The Training Manager is responsible for the factory and distribution center training strategy. Provides training, coaching, and assessments in support of factory training systems. Manages training systems through analysis, design, development, and assessment of technical training programs and tools. Develops and implements processes, programs, and procedures to strengthen organization performance in support of business objectives. Partners with business leaders, Manufacturing Excellence leaders, and other training and development professionals to develop training solutions to deliver results in support of our Manufacturing Excellence journey. Provides direct supervision to Training Specialists and Training Coordinators (if applicable).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages Training Strategy, Systems, and Processes

  • Develops and executes site training strategy in accordance with the Technical & Production strategic roadmap.
  • Develops and manages training matrices, competency matrices, training/learning plans, and training documentation in support of site training requirements.
  • Provides expertise in training needs assessment, training design, adult learning strategies/delivery, and post-training evaluations.
  • Partners with leaders to assess and analyze learning needs based on performance, talent planning, and needs assessment data. Identifies learning solutions for technical business needs.
  • Implements standard templates, training standards, and digital tools to ensure facility is aligned to overall strategic direction of NCE including TPM/Lean stages of the journey.
  • Develops and manages site training budget.
  • Oversees site technical skills development programs for operators and skilled trades.
  • Assesses and monitors the effectiveness of learning and development initiatives against predefined metrics.

Project Management

  • Designs, develops, and delivers training solutions to drive business results using the A.D.D.I.E. Model
  • Compiles data and analyzes past and current year training requirements to help determine training priorities and best use of training funds. Assesses effectiveness of overall training and impact to performance and adjusts as needed.
  • Manages external vendor relationships, as necessary, following preferred vendor standards.
  • Partners with corporate Learning and Organization Development to deploy training solutions.
  • Participates in market work groups as requested.
  • Identifies and applies for Local, State, and Federal training grants and funds to offset training costs.

Education & Training (E&T) Methodology

  • Deliver training, provide coaching, and complete assessments to ensure facility is progressing according to site Manufacturing Excellence implementation plan and OMP Objectives.
  • Lead development of site Competence Building Plan.
  • Manage the roll out of E&T systems and tools according to Manufacturing Excellence Journey including competency matrices, line mapping, and training plans.
  • Implement E&T measures according to Reference Guide and local training needs

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Training and Development, Organization Development, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of training and learning experience in a manufacturing, industrial, operational, military, or related environment required.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing, industrial, operational, military, or related environment preferred.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing setting with varied hours and shifts.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% based on the needs of the business.

SKILLS:

  • Strong program facilitation and course design skills.
  • Experience with learning management solutions and/or the use of databases to support training and skill progression.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills in working with all levels of organization.
  • Expert consulting skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization.
  • Highly creative, innovative, and motivated.
  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Self-motivated to take the initiative to find solutions.
  • Skilled at prioritizing responsibilities and deliverables.
