Overview:
Atlantic Health System is seeking a full-time Transcriptions for the Atlantic Medical Group Orthopedic Oncology in Morristown NJ.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Patient medical history and physical exam
-
Procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals including nurses and physician assistants
-
Patient education and the explanations of risks and benefits
-
Results of radiological studies
-
Pathology reports and other pertinent laboratory study results
-
Differential diagnoses
-
Physician/practitioners diagnoses
-
Plan of care, prescriptions and instructions for patient or family members for self-care and follow up
-
Some of this information may be gathered and populated into the patient’s medical record prior to an office visit or as part of a virtual visit
-
Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician, via dictation or summary of the medical records
-
Ensure letters are mailed or faxed on a daily basis to all physicians involved in a patient’s care, and with all copies of pertinent reports or tests attached
-
This may include researching contact information for referring physicians, coordinate referrals, prepare operative reports to be mailed, make phone calls or other clerical tasks as assigned
-
Identify mistakes or inconsistencies in medical documentation and check the information for accuracy in order to reduce errors

All addendums must be signed off by the physician

Ensure that all clinical data, lab or other test results, the interpretation of the results by the physician are recorded accurately in the medical record

May participate in administrative aspects of research and education that the specific practice and patients are involved

Involved in other administrative and clerical tasks related to office visits and overall operations of the office

Assist with management of radiological studies, maintaining library of all studies and downloading them to computer systems for viewing

Alert physician when chart is incomplete

Comply with specific standards that apply to the style of medical records and to the legal and ethical requirements for preparing medical documents for keeping patient information confidential
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:

High School Diploma required
Minimum Experience:
-
Computer literacy essential
-
Medical terminology strongly preferred (Orthopedics a plus) or a strong desire and willingness to rapidly learn medical terminology and further ones career in clinical healthcare

(EPIC) EMR experience helpful
