ESSENTIAL DUTIES 
Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Maintains visual observation of all public areas of the station and assist with passenger flow through the station (includes performing passenger traffic checks). 
  • Assists customers using the MTS ticket vending machines, mobile ticketing application, and fare validation equipment. 
  • Monitors overall
  • station activity and reports unusual occurrences and safety concerns (i.e., vandalism, public disturbance, or other such activity which affects normal operations).  
  • Produce Daily summary of in field activity and observations via electronic communication.  
  • Informs the public of special operating conditions which represent a deviation from normal service.  
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and integrity. 
  • Support operators by offering route assistance and policy refreshers. 
  • Maintain On Time Performance by investigating any deviation from pull times. 
  • Observe and report on concerns related to LD (Customer Service, Off routes, OTP, Safety. etc) including at stations, bus stops and on board trips. 
  • Other duties as required. 
 
Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED.
 
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:
  • 2 years customer service experience preferred.
  • Experience in public contact or related work.
  • Knowledge of MTS / San Diego Trolley policies and regulations, ability to read, understand, and apply MTS policies and regulations.
  • Knowledge of San Diego and El Cajon area and landmarks.
  • Must be able to work outside and endure weather conditions. Regularly exposed to heat, sun, fumes, airborne particles and noise levels.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk, stoop, sit, bend, and occasional lift (must be able to lift up to 10 pounds).
 
Pre-employment Requirements:
  • Must submit to drug testing and a criminal background check.
Percentage of Time for Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities: 
·         Respond to customer concerns           in the field                                           70%
·         Investigate and complete reports for system complaints                               20% 
·         Complete assigned projects                                                                10%

·         80% of work is accomplished outdoors
·         Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs and moving the whole body, such as walking, standing, and handling materials.
·         Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented field environment.
·         Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
·         Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time, to kneel/bend, and to move throughout the workday,
·         Strong sensory skills, such as good hearing, dexterity, and good eyesight.
·         Ability to speak clearly.
·         Ability to lift and/or carry 50 lbs.
