Dispatcher Overview: Dispatchers provide excellent customer service to both our passengers and our drivers.
Responsibilities:
- Managing run pullouts and openings and closing runs in the ADEPT system (or other designated Dispatch & Scheduling system)
- Recording late pullouts, uncovered driver callouts, and closed routes
- Working with service provider window dispatchers to pullout runs as scheduled and/or to obtain additional resources and capacity as needed
- Pro-actively managing runs to maintain service performance standards
- Reassigning trips between runs in a timely way, as needed
- Assigning trips on the wait-list to runs far enough ahead for them to be performed on-time
- Responding to driver requests for assistance
- Managing incidents and accidents in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Recoding denials if necessary
- Must be able to work onsite at our call center in Medford, MA

Qualifications:
Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
- High school education or equivalent, such as GED, required.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Previous dispatch experience required, and prior experience as a driver for paratransit operations may be beneficial
- Excellent knowledge of The RIDE service area streets, landmarks, and institutions, including all major trip generators and transfer points
- Excellent knowledge of traffic patterns and their impact on paratransit operations
- Excellent communication skills in person, over the phone, and on a two-way communication device
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and paratransit scheduling software (and preferably ADEPT) and the ability to learn new software
- Ability to work flexible hours
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Must submit to drug testing and a background check
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- 100% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities
- Work is accomplished at a workstation or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone, headset, and computer.
- Work environments are generally noisy, and the employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
