We partner with customers to deliver creative solutions that optimise transport networks and support safer and more reliable road journeys.

It’s an exciting time in our history as we modernise our core STREAMS product and work with customers to enable the future of mobility.

About the role:

Transmax has grown significantly over the last 18 months, and we are not slowing down!

We’re in the next exciting stage of our growth phase which is why we are now recruiting for a SDET – Level 3 to play a vital role in our company’s future.

Working closely with our high performing Data Platform team your role will see you create components, tools and scripts that enable the execution of automated tests either locally, as part of an automated CI/CD pipeline, or within a staging environment.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Work with their product manager and agile product team to achieve sprint goals, ensuring delivered quality of product functionality, reliability and performance.
  • Conceive and develop BDD tests from user stories and their acceptance criteria, and by understanding how applications, interfaces and other software components interact.
  • Write supporting test automation code to enable the validation of data products, large data sets, data driven reports, browser-based user interfaces, microservices, applications and APIs using the automation test framework and tools established by the Test Automation Architect.
  • Actively engage in contemporary software engineering practices, including use of coding guidelines, peer code reviews, test automation, knowledge sharing and teamwork, and by being a vocal supporter of scrum.
  • Collaborate with other SDETs and architects to identify and evaluate technology and process improvements to improve quality, efficiency and commercial outcomes.
  • Diagnose customer issues referred by application support, and use findings to extend or further improve test cases to guard against regression.
  • Document and communicate findings and actions so they become reliably repeatable, automating them wherever possible.

About You:

You will be preferably tertiary-level qualified in Software Engineering, Information Technology or Computer Science, and have at least 5 years’ experience working in a software product environment that utilises Scrum and DevOps/SRE practices (with an emphasis on automation) to incrementally develop, test, deploy and support scalable, highly-available software products.

You will be an empathetic team player displaying excellent problem solving and communication skills and predilection to work with data directly.

Your toolkit for success:

  • Competent in expressing user features and associated test scenarios/cases in gherkin syntax within Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) feature files and code repositories.
  • Proficient in creating software components, tools and scripts to automate tests for cloud-native browser-based user interfaces, microservices, applications and APIs.
  • Proficient in using a range of related languages and technologies such as Python, C# / .NET Core, JavaScript/TypeScript, Playwright, Selenium, Jest and others.
  • Familiar with internet protocols and application interface technologies such as REST, gRPC, JSON, XML and Protobuf.
  • Competent with source code control, agile workflow and CI/CD pipeline tools.
  • Experience with automated testing of the quality of large data sets (both relational and non-relational), such as accuracy, completeness, integrity, discoverability etc.
