Transportation Aide


The Transportation Aide is reponsible for the safety and timely transport of inpatients, outpatients, lab specimens, morgue patients and at times hospital equipment within designated areas of the hospital.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Some Hospital experience preferred.
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification required.
Responsibilities:
  • Reviews patient chart or history and correlates with physician orders. Consultation is obtained as necessary.
  • Knowledgeable in computer operations and accurate record keeping. Ensures that patient information charges are accurate.
  • Collaborate with the technologist to determine when they can accommodate the patients in the department.
  • Always explains the reason for transport to the patient using terms they will understand.
  • Perform transportation/escorting/delivery assignments promptly, as dispatched by VIP Transport Tracking System.
  • Responsible for reporting to CODE BLUE AND Rapid Response
  • Is alert to any obvious change in the general appearance or condition of the patient being transported and immediately reports such changes to the nearest nursing unit or ancillary department.
