Traveling Transformer Dismantler

Job Summary:

Road crew laborers travel around the US as a team. They perform forensic style environmental decommissioning of transformers and other electrical components at customer sites. They are responsible for all the activities related to the breakdown and handling of oil filled recyclable electrical equipment.


Responsibilities:

  • Uses plasma and torch cutter to safely open equipment for further teardown
  • Safely and effectively operate forklifts
  • Works with team members to properly rig and offload equipment for relocation
  • Sort recyclable metals according to composition.
  • Operate a variety of heavy machinery, power tools and hand tools
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must live in the state of Oklahoma
  • Must be flexible and able to do overnight travel around the United States for up to three weeks at a time depending on the contracted job
  • A valid Driver License is required
  • Class A CDL preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Great communication skills, strong work ethic and dependability required
  • Must be able to successfully pass federal background checks to work at customer sites
  • Ability to work at excessive heights

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience operating forklifts, tools, and heavy machinery preferred.

Working Conditions:

This is a physically demanding position. The employee will stand for eight or more hours. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works outside and is exposed to all weather elements, including: extreme heat, wind, rain, snow, and freezing temperatures. The employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, climb, twist, push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds. The employee is frequently required to use fingers, handle or touch objects, tools, or controls, and to reach with hands and arms. They will use a variety of hand and power tools as well as operate heavy equipment. The employee will be exposed to noise, heavy vibration, dust, exhaust fumes and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
