Management / Strategy Consultant Contract (8+ yrs)

TRC Advisory is a Chicago-based boutique consulting firm that helps clients define and deploy the strategies and tactics necessary to outperform. TRC’s Core Service Offerings:

  • Growth Strategy and Value Creation Playbooks – We build alignment around the participation and competitive strategies necessary to win – translating those decisions into a playbook that enables effective execution against the key levers to accelerate value creation

  • Go-to-Market Transformation and Commercial Effectiveness - We strengthen the commercial ‘muscle’ of the organization – identifying and driving action behind changes in the go-to-market model, resourcing and processes necessary to accelerate profitable growth with existing and new customers

  • Pricing Excellence and Mix Management - We embed the toolkit, capabilities and mindset necessary to ‘change the DNA’ of an organization as it relates to pricing excellence while accelerating realization of near-in margin enhancement opportunities

  • Resource Productivity and Creating 'Fuel for Growth' - We identify the sources of cost and complexity that don’t drive ‘value to’ or ‘value from’ priority customers and markets, enabling those resources to be redeployed to drive growth and/or deliver higher margin dollars

About the Role:

  • Contractor (1099) position attached to duration of client engagement (typically 3-9 months)

  • Compensation: $4,000 - $6,250 per week (depending on relevant experience)

  • Option to convert to full-time at end of engagement (or remain in TRC contractor network)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for being a team thought leader and driving full workstreams while working directly with mid- to senior-level clients to develop insight and build alignment

  • Develop and execute full workstreams and serve as lead on insight development for those workstreams. Consistently establish and then meet deadlines with minimal errors

  • Mentor Associates and Senior Associates while answering questions and providing direction. Act as a good teammate, while proactively finding ways to create leverage for senior team

  • Regularly engage with the client and own mid- and senior-level client relationships

  • Actively identify opportunities to create value with clients and communicate in an organized and knowledgeable manner

  • Identify high-value client opportunities, drive appropriate follow-on work, and take lead on firm communication and client development efforts

What We Look for In Our Team Members:

  • Relevant Bachelor's Degree (BS or BA) from demanding four-year college or university with demonstrated outstanding academic achievement

  • 8+ years of consulting or relevant business experience

  • Problem solvers with analytical capabilities who have an insatiable thirst to solve complex problems

  • An entrepreneurial spirit that drives you to always improve upon the status quo

  • Results-oriented team players with strong leadership and business building skills

  • Demonstrated experience in strategy, pricing, and/or go-to-market transformation

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required

  • Willingness to travel to the client site up to 3-4 days / week (varies by client and / or engagement and may include travel outside of the US)
