Airbnb is looking for a forward-thinking Trend Designer to join the Consumer Insights and Trends function globally. You will join a newly minted team of experts that looks to provoke and inspire the organization with strategic and actionable insights.

As a Trend Designer, you will work under the direction of Cultural Insights, Trends, and Foresight leadership to research and analyze cultural, lifestyle, and industry trends that support the organization in both anticipating and leading change, using design to bring content and concepts to life in engaging and compelling formats.

Responsibilities:

  • Scans the environment to gather and make sense of emerging signals of change
  • Leverages sociocultural insights, global trends, foresight, and optimism to support future-thinking and identify new opportunities
  • Researches, analyzes, and presents sector trends (e.g., travel, hospitality, leisure, entertainment, homes, design) and cultural insights (e.g., mindsets, lifestyles, values, generations, identities) that are tailored to cross-functional audiences
  • Tracks trend evolution and informs short-, medium-, and long-term opportunities
  • Produces and facilitates workshops for cross-functional partners to inspire new ideas, products, and strategic direction
  • Supports Cultural Insights, Trends, and Foresight leadership in creating a culture of futures thinking— cultivating and moderating Airbnb's internal trendspotter network, curating and planning regional trend treks, co-creating and designing physical and virtual trend hubs

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of relevant trend forecasting, consumer insights, and design experience
  • A degree in the field of Design, Design Strategy, Art, Hospitality & Tourism, Sociology, Anthropology, Journalism, or related field
  • Thorough understanding of trend research and methodology
  • Ability to unearth, synthesize, and communicate market, consumer, and cultural trends
  • Strong visual storytelling and content creation skills, with proficiency in one or more design platforms; video production and editing a plus
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills to present to a wide variety of audiences and lead engaging ideation sessions
  • Curiosity-driven and passionate learner who can receive and share new information with open-mindedness and optimism
  • Perceptive systems-thinker with the ability to see the big picture from multiple perspectives and make sense of the complexities that drive change
  • Highly attuned to weak signals of change, constantly looking beyond the data to seek new ideas, attitudes, and behaviors across diverse groups and niche markets

The starting base pay for this role is between $124,000 and $156,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, experience, and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
