SummaryThe Director is responsible for the oversight of all project management, with focuses on site safety, productivity, schedule, quality work, & trade contractors.This position ensures that all project management resources of the company have the proper expertise to execute construction projects and are managed and coordinated in an efficient and professional manner.This position ensures that projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the satisfaction of our customers. This position leads the project staff for their assigned construction project(s).This position is responsible for oversight of all project administrative functions which include contract administration, procurement, document management, financial and risk management, scheduling, and quality control as necessary to support field operations from start-up to completion / closeout.This position reports to the Associate Vice President of Design & Construction and has Project Management direct reports.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities• Detailed knowledge of commercial construction practices• Ability to lead a team.• Ability to develop conceptual estimates quickly with minimal information.• Knowledge of the local market construction practices, means and methods, and buy out strategies.• Solid skills in the areas of math, budgeting, financial analysis, as well as excellent teamwork, communication (written and oral), and interpersonal skills.• Demonstrates the ability to multitask and operate in a disruptive environment. Prioritize between competing issues, project needs, business needs, organizational issues, client relations and make judgments at a level consistent with a member of executive management.• A leadership style that is creative and a solution-focused approach when addressing challenges.• Interpersonal Communication the extent to which the employee communicates in a direct, timely and respectful manner both in verbal and written forms.Employee shows awareness of verbal and non-verbal cues they are sending.• Teamwork works well with others to get work done, willing to pitch in and help others complete work, teaches and mentors others, willing to take on new tasks to get the job done.• Initiative self-starts without being told and shows an appropriate level of independence.• Integrity extent to which the employee makes the right choices, uses appropriate judgment, displays honesty and character.• Dependability persistence to drive results and work through challenges and setbacks, faithful in meeting obligations, coming to work daily, showing commitment to job and team at Tulane University.• Professionalism projects professionalism with clients and co-workers, maintains appropriate standards of appearance and presents self in an articulate, respectful, and polite manner.• Planning and Organization analyzes work to identify top priorities, goals and plans of action. Utilizes time effectively, creates and uses schedules and meets deadlines.Required Education and / or Experience• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.• 8 years of professional experience in estimating / project management.• Experience working in an academic environment.
