DescriptionThe Section of Pediatric Nephrology in the Department of Pediatrics at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans is seeking a full-time BC/BE Pediatric Nephrologist at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Our group works closely with the pediatric nephrology division at the LSU Health Sciences sharing clinical pediatric nephrology services at Children's Hospital of New Orleans (CHNOLA).The Pediatric Nephrology service at CHNOLA offers a full range of nephrology services including all modalities of dialysis: hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, pheresis and CRRT. Clinical responsibilities will include all aspects of pediatric nephrology, including management of patients with acute and chronic kidney disease, expertise in renal replacement therapy (CRRT, PD, and acute hemodialysis) and management of kidney transplantation. Ample opportunity is available for scholarly activities and Translational Research. Clinician-scientists with extramural funding pursuing basic science research will also be considered. The Section of Pediatric Nephrology at Tulane has active NIH supported research programs that are focused on the molecular regulation of kidney development. The Section is also a participant in multiple NIH and national clinical trials focused on pediatric renal diseases.The Department of Pediatrics at Tulane is committed to providing excellence in education, clinical care, and research. The selected candidate will become actively involved in all aspects of teaching including training medical students and residents.CHNOLA is home to the Departments of Pediatrics of both Louisiana State University (LSU) New Orleans and Tulane University. CHNOLA is the only full-service, freestanding hospital for children in Louisiana and a pediatric teaching hospital for the Louisiana State University and Tulane Medical Center. It serves the entire Gulf South region. The freestanding children's hospital has a total of 229 patient beds, including an 18 bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Cardiovascular Unit, a 42-bed Neonatal ICU and 6 station pediatric dialysis unit. With more than 400 physicians trained in more than 40 subspecialties, it is the first full-service hospital exclusively for children in Louisiana and the Gulf South.New Orleans is a vibrant city with approximately 1.2 million within the metro area. It is ranked as one of the top visiting destinations in the country. In a recent Brookings Institution study, the New Orleans Metro Area ranked #1 in employment growth compared to America's 100 largest Metro areas.
