Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP (CPChem) is currently seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Turnaround Manager for our Sweeny, Clemens and Old Ocean (SCO) facility, which is located just south of Houston.


The primary responsibility of the Turnaround Manager is to lead and manage turnaround (TA) activities at the SCO Facility. This position is responsible for the success of corporate turnaround events defined as meeting the goals for safety, cost and schedule and startup of the Unit. This position leads $5MM - $65MM turnaround events (expense, capital, and expense projects) with potentially over 1500 CPChem and Contractor employees.


Responsibilities

  • Works with the GRT (Guidance Review Team) to establish turnaround goals and measurements of success
  • Monitors TA Core Team progress against milestones, report status to the TA GRT
  • Leads post turnaround critique to capture improvement opportunities for TA GRT review and endorsement
  • Implements Change Order process including approval status
  • Actively engages team in utilization of the turnaround work process throughout all phases of the event from pre-planning, TA execution, and through post TA activities
  • Safety responsibility/accountability through all phases of an event
  • Works with Project Controls/Cost establishing budgets and estimates for an event
  • Quality/Turnover responsibility and process
  • Responsible for delivery of the TA event within approved premises. Delivery includes predictability within a competitive cost structure and schedule.
  • Ensures Best Practices are incorporated into each outage to drive consistency across organizations and turnarounds.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must have at least 10 years of plant experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment both internally and externally
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to gather information, assess alternate solutions and consequences, and implement solutions
  • Demonstrated experience managing aggressive milestone compliance/targets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ethylene Plant and/or Plastics Plant experience with specific emphasis in turnaround planning.
  • Supervisory experience with large petrochemical projects and turnarounds.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Solomon and Townsend benchmarking.
  • Prior experience with project management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a project controls group.
  • Proficient in SAP.
