Job Description:
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Tutoring Center Coordinator will help launch and then oversee and manage the University Tutoring Center, located in the Bolton Library at LSU Alexandria. The Tutoring Center Coordinator is a twelve-month, full-time staff employee of LSUA, reporting to the Library Director. Hours will be primarily Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with some flex time to accommodate Tutoring Center programming as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: Completion of bachelor’s degree, with a master’s degree and some higher education work experience preferred; excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
JOB DUTIES
Initial Responsibilities:

Coordinate with academic departments and disciplines to prioritize tutoring services

Explore remote tutoring options to expand services to all students
-
Set up a Web page and other promotional media to promote tutoring services

Develop a system for scheduling tutoring services (individual or group tutoring, study skills, etc.) integrated into the Web page

Standardize University Tutoring Center hours and routines
Ongoing Responsibilities:

Oversee the day-to-day operations of tutoring services
-
Coordinate remote, online, and on campus tutoring and academic support services
-
Track usage of tutoring services and plan for future services based on data trends
-
Provide academic coaching to help students set realistic goals, develop academic plans, and improve study and classroom habits

Prepare informational materials and marketing strategies to promote tutoring services to students and faculty
-
Manage the hiring, training, and scheduling of tutors
-
Implement procedures and processes to ensure quality support services for on-campus, online and remote learners
-
Provide workshops and develop/distribute materials to support student success

Develop and implement processes to assess students’ academic progress as it relates to tutoring and report results
-
Collaborate with academic departments and the Department of Student Engagement to foster tutoring effectiveness for various classes, especially barrier classes

Explore grant options to support and sustain tutoring services and equipment as needed

Participate in staff meetings and university committees as assigned

Perform other duties as needed to enhance the services of the University Tutoring Center and the library learning commons
