The Vascular Technologist - Rad Tech plays a critical role in patient care at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham by performing essential diagnostic tests that help identify and manage peripheral vascular diseases, thus ensuring that appropriate and timely care is administered to patients.

In evaluating a patient for peripheral vascular disease, I would begin by taking a thorough medical history and understanding the patient's symptoms. I would then select the appropriate diagnostic procedures based on regulatory guidelines and the patient's specific needs, ensuring to communicate clearly with the patient and other healthcare team members.

To ensure patient comfort and safety, I prioritize clear communication to explain the procedure to the patient, reassure them throughout the process, and monitor their vital signs and responses closely. I’m attentive to any signs of discomfort or distress, making adjustments as needed to create a supportive environment.

I have extensive experience with PACS, where I focus on ensuring high-quality images are submitted correctly, paying attention to lead markers and patient history. I am familiar with troubleshooting any issues that may arise during submission to maintain effective workflow.

In my practice as a Vascular Technologist, I strictly adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, including those set forth by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and other relevant bodies.
