Summary of Job Duties:

The 360 Advisor provides proactive holistic advising and support as well as fall semester freshman seminar course instruction for first-year students living on campus who are first-generation college students and/or Federal Pell Grant recipients with declared majors within the College of Education and Health Professions, the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, and the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design.

The 360 Advisor works with a cohort of approximately 80 first-year student participants each academic year both as these students’ University Perspectives (UP) first-year seminar instructor and as a professional mentor and advisor. The 360 Advisor works with participating students in the areas of academic transition to college, social and campus engagement, financial planning, well-being, and long-term planning.

As a UP instructor, the 360 Advisor works with fellow instructors and administrators to create, implement, revise, and evaluate course curriculum, activities, and outcomes; teaches 3-4 sections of the UP course in the fall term; and teaches 2 credit hours of UNIV courses in the spring term, designed in collaboration with the UNIV Program Director, to increase retention rates.

The 360 Advisor also works within the program team to recruit, select, train, and supervise peer mentors who work within the UP course and meet with program participants.

In addition to personalized holistic advising and group instruction, the 360 Advisor works together with team members and campus partners to maintain an up-to-date working awareness and knowledge of student services and resources and makes student referrals as needed. The 360 advisor works in close partnership with members of the Strategic Outreach, Advocacy and Retention (SOAR) partners in the Office of Student Success to provide intentional and personalized outreach and support for 360 program participants in continuing years after the first year. Examples of this outreach work include academic progress check-ins, timely updates and reminders, and connections to relevant support for students with specific needs related to student success.

The 360 Advisor is also responsible for working as part of a team to respond to shifting and seasonal priorities related to the activities and goals of the Office of Student Success: providing major exploration coaching; outreach and support to students on academic probation; collaborating with other university departments on student success initiatives; and other special projects related to student populations served by the Office of Student Success.

Beginning in 2026, the 360 Advisor will also work as part of a collaborative campus network to contribute programming such as professional mentoring and peer mentoring support to participants in the university’s new Arkansas Land of Opportunity Scholarship Program.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
