Accountant (Contract)

 Reporting into the Finance Controller, your role as an Accountant is to support the Finance Team on all finance matters regarding vendor payments, expense reports, transaction documentation tracking, and more.


What
  • Actively maintain A/P processes by ensuring all AP invoices are updated in the system in a timely manner, making bank deposits, preparing and coordinating payments to vendors.
  • Review/adjust transactions at month-end to ensure correct coding. 
  • Support all month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing, external audits and financial reporting.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and analyze for variances including bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Ensure all employee expense reports and supporting documentation have been approved and submitted as well as maintain and update Expense Reimbursement Policy.
  • Ensuring Vendor Renewals are monitored and the process is followed within the organization. 
  • Support the ongoing development, improvement, and implementation of financial policies, procedures, processes and systems.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and problem-solve billing related issues.
  • Provide support to other finance teams members and the business as required to address financial matters & questions as applicable.
  • Ad hoc and special projects (ie. Software implementations, cost saving initiatives, process improvement, etc.) as assigned.


What we're looking for:
  • 1-2+ years of full cycle accounting experience, including month-end reporting.
  • You have earned a postgraduate degree or diploma in Business Administration, Finance or Commerce.
  • Working towards acquiring a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Knowledge of ASPE accounting rules and regulations.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel & Google Suite.
  • Solid technical and analytical skills with high degree of accuracy.
  • Communication skills to effectively and professionally correspond with customers, vendors and internal team members.
  • Experience with Beanworks & Netsuite is an asset.
