Although there are no current openings, we invite you to submit your application to initiate a conversation about potential future opportunities.Our schools are a reflection of our diverse student population, with over 60% of our teachers and staff identifying as people of color.Job Description:Uncommon Schools' Regional Superintendents of Instruction serve as pivotal leaders in our organization and are instrumental in the success of our schools and principals.As the Regional Superintendent of Instruction, it will be your full-time responsibility to ensure that the curriculum and teaching strategies align with the school's objectives. You will be accountable for overseeing the academic performance of the schools under your supervision:Management of Academic Program:• Work alongside school leaders to continuously evaluate and optimize teaching practices, training programs, curriculum delivery, assessments, and other aspects influencing the school's academic operations and atmosphere• Working with school administrators to cultivate a constructive atmosphere among faculty, pupils, and caregivers• Collaborate with principals to structure and carry out comprehensive summer and annual professional development seminars for teachers• Aid in the hiring process by reviewing resumes, conducting initial interviews and proposing candidates to Principals for consideration.To ensure that the educational needs of students are met, it is essential to provide comprehensive training and professional development opportunities for school leaders:• The act of providing Principals with regular, informal feedback is crucial, as is conducting an official evaluation annually• Develop a personalized training curriculum that caters to the specific needs of the Principal Fellows and instructional leaders, considering varying levels of experience and expertise• Take part in recruiting potential candidates for principal and instructional positions and participate in the interview process• Develop and implement strategies to continually improve Principal professional development initiatives for optimal results• Develop a network of talented individuals within and outside of Uncommon, with whom you can build mutually beneficial relationships over time.Managing instruction across an entire organization or region requires careful coordination and communication between all stakeholders involved:• Fostering a sense of shared purpose among educators can be achieved by creating a one mission culture in schools, which can be facilitated by regular communication and collaboration between principals• Confirm that evaluations, reports, and other data requirements are efficiently managed and executed by the assigned instructional leaders and operations staff at the schools;• Develop an effective communication strategy to disseminate the best practices to stakeholders. This could involve creating presentations, webinars, blogs or newsletters that highlight successful processes or case studies.By building a network of public charter schools and partnering with local communities, Uncommon has been able to provide innovative and effective educational programs that empower students to reach their full potential:• Work alongside the Regional Superintendent of Operations and other Uncommon officials to provide operational and compliance assistance for the region and schools and to craft regional projects• Enhance relationships with the Boards of Trustees in different regions• Collaborate with the Home Office to fulfill organizational necessities like marketing strategies and employee recruitment drives• Actively participate and contribute as a member of Uncommon's Leadership Team;• Monitor and aid the schools in catering for the unique requirements of special education students while partnering with a network of internal and external stakeholders to render cost-effective and first-rate services to the students.Qualifications:• Zealous allegiance to the principles upheld by Uncommon Schools and substantial backing for our aspiration as an organization that denounces racism• Showing unrelenting commitment to amplifying the mental, ethical, and personal growth of learners in academic and non-academic spheres;• Proven ability to lead students and staff to unparalleled results• A proficient trouble-shooter who has a proven track record in critical thinking, strategic plotting, and comprehensive data investigation• Skilled in effectively communicating complex information to various groups, and facilitating decision-making discussions among multiple parties• An individual with a proclivity for taking initiative, able to adapt quickly to a high-pressure setting• Possess a skillset that enables the delivery of high-impact feedback through classroom observations and school walkthroughs• The ability to demonstrate grit, accountability, and a desire to consistently improve oneself professionally is vital in achieving long-term success• Highly proficient in managing tasks with great efficiency, an acute eye for detail, and a strong drive to complete all assignments.Required Experience:• It is essential for candidates to possess prior experience as a principal in a high-performing urban public school• Completion of a Bachelor's program is mandatory, and a postgraduate degree in education, public policy, or a similar field is highly desirable.• A preference is given to candidates who have completed the Leverage Leadership Institute or earned a graduate degree from Relay GSE.Additional Information:Our people are what makes us Uncommon:Our compensation philosophy and benefits package are a reflection of our values.
