The successful candidate will be a key member of the Specialty Benefits Accounting Team who has technical curiosities, and is excited by uncharted processes and challenges. You must love problem solving, and be eager to learn what drives our business and processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

This Financial Accounting Analyst will ideally have 1+ years experience in a mid to large size corporate environment. You will be responsible for the preparation and analysis of membership and revenue related reporting, compilation of financial information and metrics for internal and external reporting, and evaluating existing processes for efficiencies and value added analytics. You will also:

  • Monitor financial systems, identify errors, and prepare monthly correcting entries
  • Prepare and compile data in support of external and internal reporting requests
  • Participate on working groups and be part of User acceptance testing related to financial system implementations
  • Develop and communicate innovative approaches for continued improvement in efficiency and effectiveness
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and proposing solutions
  • Analyze and prepare financial reporting packages including balance sheets and income statements
  • Prepare supplements to statutory filings and other state supplemental filings
  • Work cross functionally with other teams to identify opportunities for accuracy and efficiency in reporting

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and/or Access
  • Experience with Month End Closing and preparation of financial statements
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP) and financial statements
  • Intermediate use of Excel (pivot tables, complicated formulas)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years experience in a mid to large size corporate environment
  • Insurance Industry Experience
  • Proven to be disciplined, focused, well-organized, results-driven

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
