Summary

The Assistant Branch Manager supports the Branch Manager in overseeing daily operations, staff, and overall performance of the Geotechnical, Environmental, Building Inspection, and Construction Services Department. The ideal candidate ensures customer satisfaction, improving operational efficiency, achieving sales targets, and assisting in managing and mentoring staff. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and the ability to resolve issues while maintaining a positive work environment.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

•Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; talk and hear. Body motions and movements include bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing, with or without reasonable accommodation

•Lifting and/or moving up to thirty-five pounds regularly is expected, on occasion, with or without reasonable accommodation

•This is not a remote position. This role will be based on the selected job posting location.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Branch Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of the branch, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Supervise branch activities, including customer service, sales and administrative tasks.
  • Monitor and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Build and maintain relationship with clients and stakeholders
  • Identify and purse opportunities for new business development
  • Assist in hiring, training, and mentoring staff to ensure they meet performance standard
  • Delegate tasks to staff and monitor performance, providing feedback and coaching as needed
  • Help maintain a positive, motivated and collaborative work environment
  • Conduct regular performance reviews with team members and assist their professional development
  • Assist the Branch Manager in achieving branch sales targets and managing budgets
  • Monitor financial performance, including revenue generation and cost control
  • Contribute to the development of sales strategies to attract new clients and increase market share
  • Support marketing initiatives to promote the branch's products and services
  • Ensure the branch is operating in compliance with local regulations, industry standards and company policies
  • Assist with audits and inspections to ensure compliance and resolve any discrepancies
  • Identify potential risks to the branch's operations and implement corrective actions to mitigate those risks
  • Prepare and submit reports on branch performance, including sales, customer satisfaction and operational efficiency
  • Analyze metrics to identify trends, areas for improvement and opportunities for growth
  • Provide the Branch Manager with insights and recommendations for operational and strategic improvements
  • Other duties may be assigned


Required Qualifications:
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria) 
  • Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering from a four-year college or university
  • 3 years experience in the Geotechnical Engineering
  • Must have thorough knowledge and experience in either geotechnical engineering or environmental services consulting business
  • Experience in the effective use of scheduling and cost-control techniques
  • Ability to read and write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients
  • Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reports 
  • Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals 
  • Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form 


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in A/E/C industry
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and operational reports
  • Strong interpersonal skills to manager staff and engage with clients
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in the same industry
  • Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, delegate effectively, and problem-solve
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering excellent service
  • Sales experience and a good understanding of financial management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other business software
