The JACQUES Initiative of the Institute of Human Virology(IHV) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) isexpanding its community outreach program. All employees are expected to workprimarily physically within the State of Maryland.Essential Functions:• Coordinate the identification of newly diagnosed orpreviously-diagnosed HIV+ individuals.• Assessment of psychosocial barriers and social determinants ofhealth.• Conduct outreach activities to provide education and testingfor HIV and HCV.• Provide PrEP navigation services and support ED testing tofoster engagement into medical care and case management.• Build and maintain strong relationships with community membersand partners.• Keep records of program activities: progress, status, andoutcomes, and prepare reports for management.• Performs all the duties of a Community Outreach Worker I.Qualifications :Education: High-school diploma or GED.Experience: Two (2) years in community outreach, healthcare, research, and/or social services.The ideal candidate should have experience working in the field ofHIV/AIDS providing direct services to clients, includingpsychosocial support services, case management, psychosocialassessment, insurance application, and resources coordination. Inaddition, familiarity with HIV resources in Baltimore, Ryan Whitestandards of care and documentation, use of electronic medicalrecords, and cultural sensitivity is highly preferred.OTHER:Except for qualifications established by law, additional relatedexperience and formal education in which one has gained theknowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance ofthe work of the job class may be substituted for the education orexperience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 collegecredits being equivalent to one year of experience.Based on the duties of this position, selected candidates areeligible to participate in the Bargaining Unit (Union).Salary Range: $42,770 - $52,000 (Commensurate with education andexperience)UMB is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
