The DevOps Engineer utilizes software development techniques to automate application deployments and to automate system monitoring and notifications. This work is performed in close collaboration with 2 other DevOps Engineers and 5 Software Developers, which leads to high availability and performance of applications as well as an agile deployment lifecycle. The incumbent maintains applications and systems through monitoring, troubleshooting and tuning resources such as cpu, memory, disk, and network, and will ensure systems are properly redundant, backed up and prepared for disaster recovery.The incumbent provides systems administration for RHEL Linux, Kubernetes, and Docker based virtual environments, using Ansible scripting and automation as one of their primary tools. The DevOps team is in the beginning phases of migrating our deployment environment from on-prem to Amazon Web Services (AWS). The incumbent will be responsible for migrating our existing applications and managing the cloud deployment environment.The current deployment environment is a physical hardware infrastructure based on Dell/VMWare ESXi servers for vSphere management and VEEAM backups, DELL Compellent Storage, SAN fibre switches, and network switches. The DevOps team maintains this physical hardware infrastructure as well as the vSphere virtual environment which runs RHEL Linux, Kubernetes, Docker, and Windows based technologies. This on-prem environment is scheduled for decommissioning at the completion of the AWS migration project.Top Benefits and Perks:Exempt Benefits SummaryMinimum Qualifications:Education:• Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. an Associate’s degree and two years of relevant experience, or no degree but four years of relevant experience in roles such as DevOps Engineer, Systems Administrator, or Software Developer).Experience:• Minimum of three years experience as a DevOps Engineer, Systems Administrator, or Software Developer.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Demonstrated ability to research and learn new technologies.• Demonstrated ability to systematically analyze and solve complex technical problems.• Demonstrated ability to write and maintain scripting that manages IT systems, such as Shell, Bash, ZSH, or PowerShell.• Strong service orientation.• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team.• Excellent interpersonal skills.• Excellent troubleshooting skills.• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.Preferences:• Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to information sciences, computer sciences and engineering, or information management.• Experience using or administering Linux servers, especially Red Hat Enterprise Linux.• Experience developing, managing, and deploying using Docker or Kubernetes.• Experience troubleshooting failure modes of complex systems, such as multi-tier web technologies, networking, and storage.• Experience managing and deploying applications in a cloud environment, such as Amazon Web Services.• Experience with planning and implementing changes in complex IT systems.• Experience with configuration management and infrastructure as code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Chef or Puppet.• Experience with the software development lifecycle, including continuous integration and deployment.• Experience with a programming language, such as Go, Python, or Ruby.• Experience using version control systems, such as Git, and engaging in code reviews.Additional Information:No relocation assistance will be provided.
