Special Function Assistant

At UM Capital Region Health, we’re about to changeUP everything with the opening of our new hospital in Spring 2021!

Located in Largo in the heart of Prince George’s County, our new state-of-the-art regional medical center (UM Capital Region Medical Center) will provide improved access to primary and ambulatory care services, and serve as a tertiary care center for critically ill patients. In addition, our new space will allow us to expand our offerings as a community partner to help improve the health status of Prince George’s County residents.

Prepares, assembles and serves special function meals to clients and patrons in compliance with department policies and procedures.

Principal Duties:

1. Sets up special function events with correct equipment, dishes and serving utensils.

2. Follows recipe cards in preparing foods for special functions.

3. Follows documented portions/amounts in preparing foods.

4. Serves patrons courteously and quickly.

5. Maintains adequate back-up of food via communication to cooks.

6. Documents changes in catering worksheets to accurately communicate with management.

7. Maintains proper garnish and presentation of foods.

8. Delivers catered events 15 minutes prior to start of special function.

9. Completes prep work for next day.

10. Maintains a "clean as you go" work station and environment.

11. Wraps, labels, dates and stores in designated places all food associated with special functions.

12. Returns to special function events to clean up rooms in a timely and proper manner.

13. Maintains a clean and polished inventory of special function equipment.

14. Participates in cross-training of special functions positions.

15. Performs related work as assigned.

Experience:

Required: 1 year

Preferred: Experience in Food Service

Communication:

Work requires the ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions. Incumbents must respond appropriately to instructions, questions, or requests for information.
