Hiring DepartmentMissouri Institute for Defense & EnergyJob DescriptionWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior AI/MLResearch Engineer to join our cutting-edge research institute.In this role, you will direct and oversee the design, integration,and testing of Applied Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning(AI/ML) solutions, working closely with students and staff to driveinnovation and deliver impactful results. The ideal candidate willhave a deep technical background in AI/ML, strong leadershipskills, and a passion for solving novel and complex problems.Key Responsibilities• Lead and supervise the fine-tuning of machine learning modelsand exploration of modern AI techniques to address novel and uniquechallenges.• Develop testing methods to evaluate the efficacy andperformance of AI/ML models, ensuring alignment with projectobjectives.• Design communication protocols between models and sensors,ensuring seamless data flow and integration.• Analyze and address SWAP (size, weight, and power) requirementsto optimize models and systems for deployment.• Assist in power systems design, support system requirements,and data parsing implementation to ensure robust AI/MLsolutions.• Conduct modeling, simulation, and visualization of AI/MLsystems to validate real-world applicability.• Write technical reports and deliver presentations tostakeholders, summarizing findings and recommendations.• Prepare and submit technical proposals to secure funding forfuture projects and initiatives.• Foster a collaborative environment by mentoring students andstaff, managing time effectively, and multitasking acrossprojects.Minimum Qualifications§ A Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience from whichcomparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessaryAnticipated Hiring RangeAnticipated salary range is $67,746 through $80,000 annually,commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
