Join us in fulfilling Notre Dame’s distinctive mission and make it your professional homeResponsibilities for the staff accountant position include performing a variety of account reconciliations on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, performing transaction analysis for senior management, providing fiscal year-end audit and tax preparation support, and assisting with the accounting and reporting for the University’s portfolio of charitable trusts and gift annuities. Specific duties include journal entry preparation and review, maintenance of a subsidiary ledger containing detailed trust activity, reconciliation of stock gift transactions, and maintenance of orderly files and workpapers which provide an audit trail.After an initial 3-6 month training period, this position would be eligible to participate in the University’s remote work program, which provides for up to 2 days of remote work per week.Minimum Qualifications• Bachelors degree in Accounting with a strong background in auditing coursework.• Must have a high comfort level with technology and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.• The position requires a strong accounting background and excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Preferred Qualifications• Licensed as a Certified Public Accountant• One to three years experience in public accounting or two to four years relevant industry experience.• Prior experience with bank reconciliations, financial statement preparation and ERP financial systems.• Working knowledge of GAAP and GAAS applicable to higher education.Special Instructions to ApplicantsDepartment Accounting and Financial Services (47015)Department Website http://controller.nd.edu/Family / Sub-Family Fin Mgmt / Gnrl AccountingCareer Stream/Level EIC 2 ProfessionalFLSA Status S1 - FT Exempt
