Located within theFinance and Administration portfolio, the objective of the divisionis to provide efficient, strategic and specialized administrativeservices to support the missions of various departments, schoolsand colleges at the University of Oregon. Administrative Servicesfocuses on supporting department-specific budget, finance, payroll,human resource and procure-to-pay functions; as well as specializedphysical security technologies. We are a metric-driven,people-first administrative team that strives to create efficient,effective and sustainable support structures across campus.Position SummaryAs a Business Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role indeveloping, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines andinfrastructure to support mission-critical reporting andoperational intelligence. Your responsibilities will includeprogramming, designing, and developing custom ETL scripts usingPython, SQL, Javascript, and other languages, ensuring the seamlessmovement and consolidation of data from disparate operationalsystems. Additionally, you will maintain and optimize a complexlibrary of custom scripts, while also designing and updatingvarious data warehouse structures via MS SQL Server to enhanceperformance and facilitate reporting and operationalfunctions.You will be instrumental in the creation, deployment, andoptimization of a vast library of hundreds custom reports and dataproducts using reporting tools such as Tableau, Excel, Cognos, andnative system reporting tools. Collaborating closely with campusstakeholders, you will elicit report requests and requirements,ensuring that the reports and data products developed cater to thediverse needs of senior leadership and various departments.Furthermore, you will actively engage in analyzing business needs,working directly with senior leadership to understand goals,implement necessary changes, and continuously improve businessoperations processes.In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will take aproactive approach to training and supporting end-users, creatingtechnical documentation, and providing training on new tools andreports. By establishing and maintaining a learning end-usercommunity within supported units, you will foster a culture ofdata-driven decision-making and operational excellence.
