Program Coordinator, Student Center for Equity and Inclusion(SCEI) - 502215SUMMARY:The Program Coordinator for the Student Center for Equity andInclusion provides oversight and leadership for programs andinitiatives that directly impact the Black and African Americanstudent community at the University of Richmond. The ProgramCoordinator will aid in creating high impact and other initiativesfocused on skill building for students within the Black and AfricanAmerican community. The Program Coordinator will work with campuspartners to strategize opportunities that acclimate Black andAfrican American students to campus life. The Program Coordinatorwill also serve on the multicultural programs team led by theAssociate Director responsible for multicultural programs. Theideal candidate would have prior experience coordinating meaningfulprograms, initiatives, and resources that meet the needs of Blackand African American young adults primarily in a collegesetting.RESPONSIBILITIES:Program and Project Development• Design and implement programs that incorporate culturallyaffirming practices that support, educate, and empower Black andAfrican American students.• Develop initiatives that foster a pluralistic learningenvironment and a sense of belonging for students, with emphasis onAfrican American and Black students.• Plan multiple means to equip Black and African Americanstudents with skills that are designed to enhance resilience,self-awareness, confidence, and transformational leadership.• Strategize opportunities that acclimate Black and AfricanAmerican students to campus.• Collaborate with campus partners to develop, stimulate, andimplement initiatives that promote awareness, understanding,recognition, and celebration of the Black and African Americancommunity.• Create marketing materials for programs and initiatives throughsocial media and other university communication platforms.• Partner with other SCEI staff to plan events that promote theCenter to the campus community and positively impact the studentpopulations served.• Assist the Associate Director for Multicultural Programs in theexecution of annual programs and/or initiatives that supportmulticultural student growth and development.• Serve as the club advisor for the Black Student Alliance andadvise other Black and African American student clubs andorganizations as needed.• Coordinate and provide logistical support for student affinitygroups, such as the Black Women's Affinity Group.Administration and Management• Manage goals and objectives for programs and initiatives thatimpact the Black and African American student communities.• Monitor the SCEI budget and resource allocations for Black andAfrican American student programs.• Participate in special projects that align with the mission ofthe SCEI at the request of the Associate Director for MulticulturalPrograms.Student Advising and Mentoring• Connect students to resources that support the Black andAfrican American student experience.• Mentor Black and African American students in ways that promotepersonal development, social ease, and general satisfactionrelative to their campus quality of life experiences.Evaluation and Assessment• Generate evaluation reports and other information related toproject(s) or program(s) for the Black and African American studentcommunities.• Develop strategies to monitor, assess, and enhance theeffectiveness of existing and new initiatives for their designatedpopulation(s).Campus-Wide Committee and Outreach Efforts• Serve on institutional committees to develop, promote, and/orcreate University policies, practices, or regulations withpermission from the Associate Director for MulticulturalPrograms.• Serve as chair of the Black History Month committee providingleadership in the creation of events to celebrate the month,including the annual Black Excellence Gala.• Occasional attendance at campus community programs and eventsoutside of the SCEI that center the Black and African Americanexperience.QUALIFICATIONS:• Strong organizational skills.• Adept in establishing mentorship relations.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.• Proven programming coordination specifically centeringBlack/African American students.• Advanced computer and data management skills, utilizingprograms such as Microsoft Office Applications, Qualtrics, Canva,Student Engagement Software, and Social Media Applications.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree preferred, with a minimum of 1-2 years of workexperience in Higher Education; preferred educational background inEducation, Psychology, Sociology, Africana Studies, or relatedbackground. Experience providing support for underrepresentedstudents and a deep awareness in issues that specifically impacttraditional college-age Black and African American studentsglobally. Also have basic knowledge and understanding of LGBTQ+,first-generation, multicultural, and limited-income studentpopulations and the social justice issues that affect them.WORK HOURS:• Full-time, exempt position• Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75hrs./week; occasional nights and weekendsSALARY STRUCTURE:Pay Grade 5 (Hiring Range $41,018.00 to $54,350.00 annually)ABOUT UR:At the University of Richmond, we're creative, inclusive, anddetermined.
