Job Summary
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is crucial in shaping the HR strategy to align with organizational goals and drive impactful change initiatives. The HRBP will work with academic
and/or divisional units, partnering with supervisors, managers, and senior leaders to implement programs that increase employee engagement and enable strategic success. The HRBP role
involves consulting, change management, and data-driven decision-making to elevate HR practices. It also includes coordinating hiring activities, training programs, performance management, workforce planning, and staffing assessment. Success in this position relies significantly on developing strong relationships across campus and fostering respectful communications and collaborations within people and culture-oriented communities. The position requires managing conflicting interests, setting priorities, and managing multiple projects and deadlines.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
• Change Management: Collaborate with supervisors, managers, and senior leaders to shape the HR strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Lead and support impactful change initiatives utilizing consulting skills and change management techniques. Partner closely with supervisors, managers, and senior leaders to implement programs aimed at increasing employee engagement and facilitating strategic success.
• HR Strategy & Consulting: Provide expert HR guidance and consulting services to supervisors, managers, and senior leaders on a range of HR matters, including performance management, employee relations, and leadership development. Utilize data analytics to inform HR strategies and decision-making processes, ensuring initiatives are evidence-based and align with organizational priorities. Conduct workforce planning activities and staffing assessments to anticipate and address future talent needs within academic and/or divisional units, partnering with supervisors, managers, and senior leaders.
• Human Capital Management: Process complex human resources transactions accurately and within established timelines. Oversee and coordinate hiring activities, including recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes, to ensure a talented workforce. Review hiring proposals, and provide support for hiring managers and/or Search Committee members. Maintain search records, compile statistical reports and analyze complex information to define and solve problems.
• Training Programs: Collaborate with the Learning & Organizational Development Team in HR to develop and implement training programs that enhance employee skills and capabilities, aligning with organizational needs and objectives.
• Performance Management: Support supervisors, managers, and senior leaders in implementing effective performance management processes and providing guidance on goal setting, performance evaluation, and feedback mechanisms.
• HR Investigative Support: Support the Employee Relations Team in HR on investigations in assigned divisional units as needed. Manage conflicting interests and priorities effectively, resolving conflicts and balancing competing demands to drive successful outcomes.
• Project Management: Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, setting priorities and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
• Other: Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Required Experience:
• Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with quickly shifting priorities. Demonstrated experience with human resource principles and practices including employment, performance management, classification and compensation and/or employee relations. Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations. Proficient with current office software. Demonstrated excellence in communications and strong listening skills. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated high emotional intelligence. Strong customer service orientation and sense of integrity. Capacity to deal with a wide range of relationships and situations; comfort with ambiguity. Ability to maintain discretion and the highest ethical and professional standards while dealing with confidential information.
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in human resources, including talent acquisition/management.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience:
• Broad experience in human resources management to include recruiting, benefits, compensation, performance management, consulting, and/or training and development.
• Current SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP; PHR, SPHR certification or can acquire in 1 year.
• Higher education experience is a plus.
Preferred Educational Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or Business Administration preferred.
Proposed Salary
Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Abilities - Ability to partner with managers, senior leaders, team members, and campus partners to provide value-added resolution. Work is generally performed in an office environment and require some light lifting up to 15lbs.
• Knowledge - Thorough understanding of recruiting methods and best practices, as well as applicable policies and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
• Skills - Superior verbal and written communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Excellent interpersonal, counseling, and negotiation skills. Strong presentation skills. Excellent leadership skills.
