Job Summary:This Custodian Lead position is a team member of the Wisconsin Union - Facilities Custodian Team. Duties include Lead worker duties, assisting in training new employees, inspecting progress and quality of building services, routine maintenance and cleaning, trash removal and snow removal. Work is performed under the guidance of a Custodial Services Supervisor.Our organization, the Wisconsin Union, is the social heart of UW-Madison, providing events, facilities, and activities for students, staff, faculty, thousands of Wisconsin Union members, and visitors. The Union also provides hands-on leadership experiences for hundreds of UW-Madison students.Responsibilities:Cleans institutional facilities, removes waste and recycling, and monitors building security to ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in assigned areas. Leads the custodial work of others and responds to custodial emergencies.• 50% Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables• 5% Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities• 10% Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed• 5% Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs• 10% Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice• 10% Schedules, monitors, and communicates with staff and assists with basic training• 10% Responds to facility emergency and hazardous situations, and escalates incidents according to established policies and proceduresInstitutional Statement on Diversity:Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by over thirty food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $60 million dollars.Student Affairs is led by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
