Job Summary:The Waisman Center is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases throughout the lifespan. One of 15 centers of its kind in the United States, the Waisman Center encompasses laboratories for biomedical and behavioral research, several scientific research cores, and a clinical biomanufacturing facility for the production of pharmaceuticals for early stage human clinical trials. In addition to its research efforts, the Center provides an array of services to people with developmental disabilities, offers numerous educational and outreach programs to young children and their families, and trains scientists and clinicians who will serve our nation in the future.The Scientist will work within the Developing Brain Imaging Laboratory, directed by Dr. Doug Dean. The Developing Brain Imaging Lab is focused on advancing knowledge and understanding about brain development across the lifespan, with a particular focus on early development. Research projects involve a variety of methods, including neuroimaging (MRI, EEG, fNIRS), neurobehavioral assessment, biospecimens, and questionnaires. The Scientist will collaborate with members of the team to address critical scientific questions related to neurodevelopment across the lifespan, examining brain mechanisms that underly and influence cognitive and behavioral development, and factors that contribute to intellectual and developmental disabilities. Additionally, the scientist will assist with writing grant proposals and manuscripts and provide mentorship to graduate students.This position requires analytic thinking and the ability to apply technical innovation to neuroscience problems relevant to child development. Postdoctoral training experience will be considered.Well-qualified applicants will also have the following preferred experience:- 5+ years research experience in social science, biomedical research or closely related field.- Experience working with families, infants, and young children.- Experience in research project management and mentoring.- Experience with drafting, submitting, and maintaining Institutional Review Board protocols.- Experience with drafting, submitting, and obtaining NIH-funded grants.- Experience with administering and scoring child behavioral assessments. (e.g., NIH Toolbox, Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, Mullen Scales of Early Learning, etc.)- Experience with working with neuroimaging data, including MRI and EEG, preferably in infants and children.- Experience with office productivity tools, such as Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).- Experience managing budgets and tracking expenses.- Proactive problem solving and planning.- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.- Excellent interpersonal, organization, written, and verbal communication skills.- Strong attention to detail and a strong work ethic.Work Type:Full Time: 100%It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.Appointment Type, Duration:Ongoing/RenewableSalary:Minimum $65,000 ANNUAL (12 months)Depending on QualificationsSalary is negotiable and will be based on experience and skills.
