We’re seeking a Quantum Applications Developer (aka The Quantum Innovator) to design, develop, and deploy quantum applications that unlock the full potential of quantum computing.

As a Quantum Applications Developer at our client, you’ll collaborate with quantum scientists, software engineers, and domain experts to build robust applications that integrate quantum algorithms with industry-specific needs. Your expertise in quantum programming, application development, and hybrid quantum-classical systems will be essential to delivering impactful solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Build Quantum Applications:
    • Develop applications leveraging quantum algorithms for optimization, simulation, and data analysis. Focus on creating solutions tailored to specific industries like logistics, pharmaceuticals, or cryptography.
  2. Implement Hybrid Quantum-Classical Workflows:
    • Integrate quantum computing with classical systems to create efficient workflows, enabling quantum applications to complement existing computational tools.
  3. Collaborate on Algorithm Customization:
    • Work with quantum algorithm developers to tailor algorithms for specific use cases, ensuring performance and scalability.
  4. Test Applications on Quantum Hardware and Simulators:
    • Validate and refine applications using quantum simulators and hardware platforms such as IBM Quantum, Google’s Sycamore, or Rigetti. Benchmark performance and optimize for hardware constraints.
  5. Develop User-Friendly Interfaces and APIs:
    • Build intuitive interfaces and APIs that enable end-users to interact with quantum applications seamlessly, even without deep quantum knowledge.
  6. Collaborate Across Disciplines:
    • Partner with domain experts to understand industry-specific problems and translate them into quantum solutions. Work closely with engineers and data scientists to integrate quantum applications into larger systems.
  7. Stay Updated on Quantum Technologies:
    • Continuously research advancements in quantum computing, frameworks, and tools to ensure applications remain cutting-edge.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in Quantum Programming Frameworks: Experience with tools like Qiskit, Cirq, TensorFlow Quantum, or PennyLane for developing quantum applications.
  • Strong Software Development Skills: Expertise in Python, Java, or C++ for building applications and hybrid workflows.
  • Knowledge of Quantum Algorithms: Familiarity with algorithms for quantum optimization, machine learning, and cryptography, and their application to real-world problems.
  • Experience with Quantum Hardware Platforms: Hands-on experience with quantum simulators and quantum computers, understanding their constraints and capabilities.
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Thinking: Ability to identify where quantum computing provides an advantage and design solutions accordingly.

Educational Requirements:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field. Equivalent experience in quantum application development may be considered.
  • Certifications or specialized training in quantum computing and application development are advantageous.

Experience Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in application development, with at least 1 year focused on quantum computing.
  • Proven track record of delivering applications or prototypes that leverage quantum algorithms for practical use cases.
  • Experience with optimization problems, simulation tasks, or secure communication systems is highly desirable.
