We’re looking for a Robotics Research Scientist (aka The Innovation Pioneer) to conduct cutting-edge research that drives the future of robotics across industries.

As a Robotics Research Scientist at our client, you’ll collaborate with a team of engineers, scientists, and machine learning experts to explore and develop next-generation robotic capabilities. Your work will be crucial in creating new methodologies, advancing technology, and contributing to the scientific community with impactful research that defines the future of robotics.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct Fundamental and Applied Research in Robotics:
    • Lead research projects in robotics domains such as machine learning, computer vision, human-robot interaction, and autonomous navigation. You’ll push the boundaries of robotic intelligence and adaptability.
  2. Develop Novel Algorithms and Robotic Models:
    • Design algorithms for robot learning, perception, planning, and control. You’ll work with techniques like reinforcement learning, SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), and optimization to enable intelligent behavior.
  3. Experiment with Prototyping and Simulation:
    • Create prototypes and run simulations to test and validate research hypotheses. You’ll refine your designs through iterative experimentation, turning theoretical concepts into real-world applications.
  4. Publish Research Findings and Contribute to the Scientific Community:
    • Document research results and publish findings in reputable journals and conferences. You’ll present your work at industry and academic events, sharing insights and contributing to the broader robotics field.
  5. Collaborate on Cross-Disciplinary Research Projects:
    • Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to integrate findings into practical applications. You’ll contribute research that supports the development of functional, scalable robotic solutions.
  6. Stay Updated on Emerging Trends in Robotics and AI:
    • Continuously follow advancements in robotics, AI, and machine learning. You’ll bring new knowledge and techniques to your research, keeping the team at the cutting edge of technology.
  7. Apply for Research Grants and Funding Opportunities:
    • Collaborate on proposals for research grants and funding. You’ll help secure resources that support innovative projects and expand the research capabilities of the team.

Required Skills:

  • Advanced Knowledge of Robotics and AI: Expertise in fields like machine learning, reinforcement learning, computer vision, and robotic perception, with a focus on real-world applications.
  • Algorithm Development and Optimization: Experience in designing and optimizing algorithms for robotic control, navigation, and interaction.
  • Programming Skills in Python, C++, and MATLAB: Proficiency in languages commonly used for robotics research, with experience in machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and ROS (Robot Operating System).
  • Analytical and Experimental Skills: Ability to design experiments, analyze data, and draw insightful conclusions that advance research objectives.
  • Publication and Presentation Skills: Strong communication skills for writing scientific papers, presenting findings, and collaborating with both technical and academic audiences.

Educational Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience in robotics research may be considered.
  • A solid record of published research in reputable robotics or AI journals is advantageous.

Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in robotics research or a similar field, with a focus on autonomous systems, AI, or machine learning.
  • Experience with robotic simulation tools (e.g., Gazebo, PyBullet) and familiarity with robotic perception and motion planning.
  • Familiarity with grant writing or securing research funding is a plus.
