Help us help others, and join Team Unum today!General Summary:This individual is accountable for leading and delivering facilities operations strategies and services for the US real estate portfolio. These services include facilities and grounds maintenance, building infrastructure management, technology and controls, furnishings, and equipment support, catering and employee dining and services, waste streams, energy management and sustainability roadmap.Unum's portfolio includes various property types including offices, campuses, data centers, and spaces leased to tenants, all requiring different levels of support and management. Goals are to strengthen employee (internal customer) experience, safety, business resiliency, financial management, infrastructure performance, tenant management, sustainability, and organizational development.Focus will be on planning and implementing the organization and outsourcing/ contracting strategy to deliver facilities and property management services for an evolving real estate portfolio. The incumbent will work closely with senior cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize and align services and investments with strategic goals of the company and the Real Estate Portfolio Strategy, and then develop plans to deliver on those opportunities.This individual is expected to lead and implement change as strategies are updated and is responsible for managing financial, business continuity and customer service results for facilities operations. This position may also be responsible for establishing and measuring progress against annual improvement goals.Principal Duties and Responsibilities• Manage organization including Unum employees, external service providers (contingent worker staff est. 200 ) with an annual operating budget to achieve financial, operational, quality, experience, and compliance objectives.• Develop and deliver operational strategy and contract service solutions for a distributed real estate portfolio. Responsible for contractor strategy, selection, management, and ongoing administration including purchasing and invoice processing.• Lead transformational projects to design and implement operations strategy and changes to service models and processes.• Leverage best practices in the industry including emerging technologies and analytics for operational effectiveness, reliability and predictive maintenance, facilities engineering, sustainability, and energy management. Evaluate and make recommendations for investments in facilities upgrades and replacements.• Establish strong, effective, and collaborative partnerships with key internal customers and external resources. Ensure a strong understanding of priorities to balance employee experience, financial performance, risk tolerance, and sustainability goals.• Lead efforts to identify best service models and providers to address business and financial needs and develop and drive plans to ensure successful implementation.• Analyze and synthesize internal and external market information to quantify business cases and develop strategies and recommendations.• Responsible for change enablement plans, including championing a cultural change towards a customer centric organization, focused on end-to-end customer experience, operational excellence, customer satisfaction and forward-looking insights, process management, and efficiency.• Develop employees and foster increased knowledge and skills through the organization in the following areas: customer experience delivery, emerging technologies, insights & analytics, and business acumen.• Perform other duties as assignedJob Specifications• BA/BS required; engineering discipline preferred.• 10 years’ experience in facilities management or engineering leadership role, to include working with customers and key internal stakeholders.• Extensive experience managing operations and facilities improvement projects.• Experience with facilities management systems and technology.• Experience with and passion for strengthening organizations and capabilities, managing teams, and developing people.• Passion for enabling highly effective management and leadership processes and driving operational and organizational change.• Broad business knowledge to include, but is not limited to finance, operational, engineering, technology, safety, compliance.• Excellent communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills (clear, concise oral and written communication).• Exceptional presentation and influencing skills with all levels of leadership and business management; adept at handling customer situations.• Demonstrated experience in driving operations transformation and drive change.• Synthesis of analysis and research into strategic insights and practical recommendations, including strategic, risk, financial, and operational analysis.• Demonstrated strength in the creation of simple and effective business communications and presentations to build the case for change and rationale for recommendations to gain executive support throughout the project.• Highly self-motivated – will go the extra mile to get the job done right and “wow” our internal customers and stakeholders.• Superior consulting and advisory skills; ability to think conceptually, handle ambiguity, solve complex problems, and make thoughtful recommendations.• Some travel required.#LI-LM2024Unum and Colonial Life are part of Unum Group, a Fortune 500 company and leading provider of employee benefits to companies worldwide. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.$114,100.00-$205,400.00Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
