I have a novel titled The Veteran. I had an editor, but she stole my money, so I’m moving on. My book is 99k words and has been partially edited. She did a decent job on the first 200 pages, but I did see that on the last 100 pages, there were not many notes from her edit. I still have questions about some things I was supposed to discuss with her. Most of my questions deal with quotes and capitalization of titles. Also, she told me of a great idea to italicize the conversations that the main character is replaying as he tells his therapist his story.
There are a few other things as well. Everything is marked in the draft comments.
I’m looking for someone to ensure that the quotes and capitalization is correct and to ensure what was edited is good and to finish editing my novel. Most of it is finished already.
The book is about a veteran who is a homeless drug addict who is getting help with his issues. For most of the book, he talks with his therapist and recounts his life to her... He is telling her two stories. 1. Basically, the last month or two of his life and how he ended up at the therapist's office. This story leads to triggers with his PTSD.
2. He is telling her his story of his military career and how the events of his multiple deployments led to him becoming an alcoholic and homeless drug addict.
The book is written where it shows his progression from drinking a beer to a full-blown addiction and to talking about suicide. The book ends where you think he has committed suicide. But wait, there’s more. He gets the help he needs and starts to help other vets.
I’m looking for someone to help answer my questions and concerns that are in the comments and to do a one-over to note anything my first crappy editor missed.
I want to talk and ensure we are on the same page before hiring anyone. I don’t want to waste more money and not get what I want.
Attached is the file I plan on using.
Thanks
