Hi there! I am looking for writers for a TRUE CRIME and DARK CONTENT Youtube channel who are able to write and research scripts between 1500 and 3000 words. If the event is historical then we should be able to imagine ourselves being there - the scene should be set well. ————— If this is a true crime script then this is most relevant: The script should build suspense where possible - the victim shouldn’t be referred to as a victim either directly or indirectly until after the “event” has happened. Do not refer to the crime/murder/event until it comes up in that section of the script. For example in the biography do not say “before their murder John Smith was…” during the biography. ————— This is a rough idea of how you could pace the script and keep the story linear: - 100-200 word biography of victim [DOB, parents, what they liked, quotes about them] - 25-50 word description of town or city of the event [adjust length depending on importance] - 250-500 words of situation leading up to event. [the listener should be able to picture the whole thing] - 500-800 words on the event [try to keep some suspense for big reveals in the investigation & trial] - 250-500 words on investigation. [if you can, keep the suspense going regarding suspects up until arrest/interrogation reveals it] - 100-200 words on trial & conviction. [again, keep suspense where you can on whether suspect will be found guilty] [Please do not include a conclusion where it repeats what has happened] —————— A list of sources should be provided - but there is no need to include academic-style reference mid-text. Just include a list at the end of the script. However similarly to academic-style referencing these sources will not count towards the 2000 word count. ————— Language: Try to soften harsh language for suitability to the Youtube platform… For example “murdered” could become “ended” Or “he was dead” could become “he was no longer breathing” if the act just occurred. Or “s*xual intercourse” could become “intimate act” Or “r*pe” could become “intimately violated” or “ Or “dr*gs” could become “illicit substances”.
