Job Summary of Logistics Manager:The Manager in charge of the Logistics Manager is accountable for supervising the warehouse operations that happen during the night time. This includes making sure that the goods are handled, stored and distributed proficiently. Apart from managing the staff, maintaining a safe working environment is critical while also ensuring that orders are fulfilled accurately and on time. The ultimate goal of the Logistics Manager is to streamline operations and increase overall efficiency.Responsibilities of Logistics Manager:• Embrace a safety-first approach to eliminate the risk of injuries and safeguard all US Foods employees. Prioritize safety protocols, techniques, and education to instill a safety-conscious mentality in the distribution center.• Manage and nurture the growth of warehouse staff by providing individualized mentoring, teaching them protocols and practices, resolving issues that arise, and serving as a role model. Initiate conversations with Senior Warehouse Managers concerning employees' achievement and devise strategies to remedy shortcomings.• Efficient Workflow Can Be Achieved Through Open Communication and Strategic Management.• Oversee and manage the performance of warehouse associates and ensure smooth workflow operations. Foster a culture that upholds the core values of US Foods and promotes employee engagement.• Help create effective teams by conducting interviews and hiring warehouse staff with the assistance of senior warehouse managers. Review productivity and safety goals, provide coaching, and take disciplinary action as needed.• Guide and manage team members to attain precise orders, which are subsequently arranged and loaded onto the vehicles. Monitor the arrangement of the warehouse for outbound or inbound activities during the succeeding shift.• Keep track of operational data, such as errors and efficiency records, to verify that the whole work period meets goals and adheres to desired techniques. If necessary, use coaching and counseling to address any inappropriate conduct.• During day shift, it is essential to assign dock locations for incoming carriers while also making certain that the products are placed in the right location based on food safety and FIFO processes procedures. Keeping an eye on replenishment activity helps in ensuring that there are enough stocks for the shipping shift, and it decreases the chances of shortages. Additionally, supervising the will call process is necessary to maintain smooth and efficient operations.• Ensuring the well-being of the warehouse and its equipment, which includes submitting requests for maintenance, repairs, and equipment purchases.• Collaborate with the operations management team in detecting the causes of inventory loss and support in crafting a corrective course of action. Evaluate the existing operations and suggest ways to enhance cost and expense management.• Conduct routine safety checks to identify potential hazards within the facility, and take necessary corrective measures or report them to the safety manager promptly.• Adhere to the guidelines of the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) and FSQA specifications to maintain product safety.• Efficiently manage employee schedules by utilizing various planning resources such as Microsoft Excel to allocate shifts effectively• Additional responsibilities delegated by supervisorQualification of Logistics Manager:• Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce required.• Broad knowledge of warehouse operations, methods and procedures.• Strong leadership, communication and people development skills.• Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, HACCP and other regulatory requirements.• Ability to interpret financial and operational data.• Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office).• Related Experience/Requirements:• Minimum of three years of experience in warehouse distribution required.• 10% travel required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training.• High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferredPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS of Logistics Manager:• Licenses/Certifications:• HACCP certification a plus.• PCQI certification a plus.
