The OpportunityAs a dedicated Director, Financial Operations, you will supervise a team of payment professionals that processes billions of dollars of revenue per year. This role will directly report to Head of Payments.We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position will be based in our San Antonio, TX location.Relocation assistance is available for this position.What you'll do:•Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.•Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.•Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.•Responsible for building and developing teams that may perform the following functions: processing paper and electronic member deposits, payments and transfers, accounts payable and receivables invoices, corporate credit card, money transfers, pre-escheat, or researching monies moved between entities.•Maintains knowledge of relevant financial regulatory environment to ensure compliance across areas of responsibility. Manages risk issues and provides strategies for mitigation to minimize business impact.•Proactively identifies, develops, and recommends improvements to processes and service delivery.•Monitors and analyzes production and systems to maintain effectiveness and develops strategies for improvement.•Ensures money movement operations are efficient and effective, meeting organizational and regulatory requirements.•Manages workflow, project execution and establishes plans around management and improvement of processes.•Directs resources to adhere to Federal regulations, policies and procedures. Includes leading internal employees, contractors and managing third party vendor relationships.•Builds and oversees a team of employees for assigned functional area through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.What you have:•Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.•8 years of financial services experience with demonstrated understanding of large company finance and accounting and internal control practices.•3 or more years of direct team lead or management experience required.•Extensive experience in money movement transaction processing or Financial Institution regulatory compliance.•Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and theories of business operations, finance, accounting and/or other related business fields and disciplines.•Demonstrated ability to manage workflow and project execution, establish plans, manage and improve processes.•Knowledge and experience with applications, tools, and functionalities of corporate financial, payment, or deposit systems.What sets you apart:•Experience supervising a high volume of incoming payments from members for insurance products.•Experience managing various incoming payment types such as ACH/EFT, External Bill Pay, Checks.•Knowledge of rules and regulations around each of these payment rails is important (such as NACHA rules).•Familiarity of Auto, Property and Life Insurance products is a plus.•US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partnerThe above description reflects the details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job and should not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be performed in the job.What we offer:Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
