The Opportunity

Summary

As a dedicated Communications Advisor I, you will plan and implement strategic communications programs for business or enterprise initiatives. Provides counsel and advice regarding communications plans, strategies and/or tactics to support business and enterprise objectives and priorities. Manages multiple relationships and communications channels to ensure products, services and/or business initiatives are effectively positioned with internal and/or external audiences.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Develops, maintains, and implements complex communications programs/plans that identify key messages, target audiences and intended outcomes.
  • Assesses program or plan effectiveness.
  • Works closely with all stakeholders and business partners to integrate and align deliverables with communications plans and programs.
  • Resolves issues and navigates obstacles to deliver work product.
  • Writes, edits, and/or oversees development of appropriately styled communications.
  • May coordinate necessary approvals and/or produce and deliver critical messages for senior leaders.
  • Uses technical and business knowledge proficiency to provide communications guidance to clients and business partners.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field required.
    4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • 4 or more years of corporate communications, public relations, journalism/news media, or related work experience.
  • Proficient communication skills, including experience producing content for multiple channels.
  • Proficient experience consulting with senior management in a business environment.
  • Proficient project management skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of the function/discipline and demonstrated application of knowledge, skills and abilities towards work products required.
  • Proficient level of business acumen in the areas of the business operations, industry practices and emerging trends required.

What sets you apart:

  • 2 or more years of Banking experience.
  • 2 or more years of experience writing bank-focused member facing operational communications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with all levels of stakeholders.
  • 2 or more years of experience editing and proof-reading content.
  • U.S. military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $69,920 - $133,620.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

 

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
