Apply today to be a part of this committed team serving the mental health needs of the area.Position Summary:The Spanish Interpreter will facilitate effective communication between English and Spanish speakers on a daily basis, ensuring accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation in various settings, such as meetings, over the phone, or client interactions, while demonstrating proficiency in specialized vocabulary as required by the specific industry.Location: Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center/HCPC at UTHealth HoustonDept.: BSC ProgrammingStatus: Full-TimeFLSA: Non-ExemptPosition Key Accountabilities:• Provides written translation of patient histories and other medical reports, patient education and instructional material, advance directives, medical documents and other institutional publications.• Provides oral translation of discussions related to patient referral, new patient registration, financial evaluation, patient assessment, treatment planning, admissions, discharge, and other clinical and healthcare-related discussions.• Interprets clinical, financial, psychosocial and ethical discussions related to patient care activities.• Serves as a resource to patients, staff and care providers to contribute to successful patient outcomes.• Performs on-call translation duties requiring immediate response to electronic paging.• Perform other duties as assigned.Certification/Skills:Minimum Education:Associate degree or relevant work experience in lieu of degree.Minimum Experience:Two years of relevant experience.Physical Requirements:Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.Security Sensitive:This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215Residency Requirement:Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
