UX Designer

About the role:

Morning Brew is looking for a highly motivated UX Designer who is passionate about designing best in class user experiences that improve the user journey in return. In this role, you’ll empathize with our users’ needs, create scalable user experiences, and deliver meaningful and intuitive interfaces across all verticals. You’ll be called upon to work through design challenges and provide best practice solutions that fit the needs of our users and meet the goals of the business.      

This role sits in the Product team and reports to the Director of Product Design.

What you'll do:

• Focus relentlessly on solving problems for our users and advocate for the value of human-centered design and best practice user experience design. 
• Possess a good working knowledge about emerging user interface / interaction design standards and best practices. 
• Collaborate with product designers, product managers, engineering, and business stakeholders to identify problems and provide thoughtful, creative solutions, and help ship optimal versions of our products over time. 
• Partner with teammates to conduct usability studies, research and market analysis, and test into product design requirements to enhance user satisfaction. 
• Translate insights and findings into usable, effective, and accessible user experiences.
• Communicate ideas verbally and visually through flow diagrams, wireframes, mockups, concept designs, and high-fidelity prototypes. 
• Utilize Morning Brew’s design system and contribute to its improvement. 
• Collaborate with product designers to drive alignment and consistency across the entire user experience ecosystem at Morning Brew.
• Create personas, user journey maps, and uncover user touch points for Product Design to use when designing our products.
• Design with user interaction and ensure usability and accessibility of all of our products.

About you:

• 2-3 years of experience of User Experience design for online media or similar industry. 
• Strong expertise in common design tools (We use Figma). 
• A general understanding of the importance of user research and data to product followed by uncompromising design. 
• An intuitive eye for our users’ needs beyond the obvious. 
• An approach to framing and solving user problems, and an understanding of a range of contemporary design tools, methods, and research. 
• A general understanding of end-to-end product design processes, including journey mapping, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping, user testing, and UX writing. 
• You are adamant about ensuring optimal user experience while fulfilling business objectives and goals.               
• A portfolio of work that is clear about your thought process, not just final design work.
