UX Research Manager

23andMe is looking for an experienced UX Research Manager to help us build intuitive, logical and delightful experiences for our customers. You excel at deciphering consumer interests and behaviors through both quantitative and qualitative methods, and creating clear, actionable recommendations that improve the customer experience. This role will be working with all aspects of the Consumer Organization, focusing on areas such as consumer experience, UI design and evaluation, navigation flow, information architecture, and product testing.

You will be part of the Consumer Insights Team, a dynamic, cross-departmental service organization with a charter to represent the voice of the consumer and customer in everything we do. While most of this role's focus will be partnering with the product team to develop and refine great products/services for our customers, there will be collaboration across all departments and areas of research. As UX Research Lead, this role will require someone eager to build the role and relationships, and manage all aspects of the project lifecycle.

Who We Are

Since 2006, 23andMe's mission has been to help people access, understand, and benefit from the human genome. We are a group of passionate individuals pushing the boundaries of what's possible to help turn genetic insight into better health and personal understanding.

What You'll Do

  • Work with stakeholders in all consumer and customer-facing departments to bring data to all key decisions.
  • Manage a variety of different studies utilizing qualitative and quantitative methods, including 1:1 interviews, usability studies, customer journey mapping, focus groups, and ethnographic studies.
  • Develop partnerships with internal stakeholders to pre-plan research projects as part of the development and launch schedule. Coordination is key as the UX Research must be integrated into the Product roadmap.
  • Project scoping, management, execution, and analysis. Strong communication skills and ability to manage internal and external (vendor) relationships.
  • Clear, concise communication of research findings. Ability to summarize data in a presentation and recommendations across the organization confidently and on short timelines.
  • Management of UX contractor as a team member, maximizing output and development.

What You'll Bring

  • 5-7+ years of experience in UX research in a consumer facing company, or market research vendor. A strong background working with the best UX tools and methods to turn data into actionable insights.
  • Ability to lead and develop all UX functions and relationships. Success will require proactive building relationships and project roadmaps.
  • In-depth experience with a variety of methodologies - not just via vendors but the ability to roll up your sleeves and handle a project from beginning to end.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to deliver written and oral presentations to different constituencies of all levels.
  • Intellectual curiosity and innate desire to answer the big questions that will propel the organization forward.
  • The ability to deliver in a fast paced environment with a high level of professionalism, remaining flexible, proactive, and resourceful.
  • Strong interest in taking a hands-on role with senior colleagues at 23andMe. Excitement to be included in a highly visible role that influences decision-making and thought leadership in the organization. While Consumer Insights will be your home base, you will have opportunities to work in a variety of cross-team capacities.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
