Fund AccountantOur client, a real estate investment firm located in the San Francisco Bay Area, is seeking a strategic and collaborative Fund Accountant. This role requires 3 days per week in the office and offers the opportunity to support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. The position involves working closely with tax accountants and auditors, providing valuable information for funds and/or separate accounts.Responsibilities:• Perform investment vehicle level cash analysis on a daily/weekly basis.• Approve payables/expenditure workflow using systems such as NEXUS (AP system), Paymode-X/Kyriba (payment processing), and MRI (GL system).• Respond to internal and external inquiries promptly.• Consolidate and reconcile investment accounts for various Funds, Joint Ventures, Co-Investments, and/or separate accounts monthly.• Record month-end journal entries and facilitate the closing process.• Reconcile balance sheets (cash, AP, Prepaids, AR, etc.), maintain the general ledger, and update supporting schedules and workbooks.• Manage draw and paydown requests for investment vehicles' subline.• Oversee third-party accounting groups with bank reconciliation and other general ledger tasks.Quarterly:• Lead the quarter-end close process and prepare financial statements and footnotes in accordance with NCREIF and GAAP reporting standards.• Prepare quarterly investor reporting packages.• Maintain REITs, including preparing support for quarterly REIT testing, consent forms, and managing distributions.• Maintain partner capital accounts in Juniper Square (investor portal).• Prepare ad hoc reports for investors.Annually:• Prepare financial packages for auditors and support the interim and year-end audit process.• Prepare financial packages for tax accountants and review partnership tax returns.• Respond to tax and audit inquiries.Additional Responsibilities:• Work directly with Investments, Chief Accounting Officer, Analytics, Senior Controller, and Fund Controller on ad hoc projects.• Assist in accounting analysis on acquisitions and dispositions.• Involve in investor relations and communications.• Understand and interpret specific legal agreements (LP Agreements, LLC Agreements, Loan Agreements).• Maintain confidentiality of all company procedures.• Follow all company policies and procedures.• Comply with all company training requirements.• Maintain a safe working environment.• Regular attendance is essential.• Maintain a courteous, helpful, and professional attitude.• Perform other duties as assigned in a positive and helpful manner.Requirements:• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and 2-4 years of accounting work experience.• Experience in real estate, private equity, or financial services is strongly preferred.• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook.• Experience with MRI and Juniper Square is highly preferred.• Working knowledge of partnership/fund accounting concepts.• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to create a positive work environment.• Highly organized, flexible, and strong follow-through.• Self-starter, highly motivated, deadline and detail-oriented, with a sense of urgency.• Proactive, resourceful, efficient with strong decision-making skills; works independently with minimal supervision.• Enjoys the challenges of supporting a small department.• Expert-level written and verbal communication skills; must possess high-level professionalism.• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and follow through on issues in a timely manner.• Ability to interact with staff at all levels and personality types in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure.• Detail-oriented, a learner, and problem-solver with an active, curious intellect.Compensation:Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $110K - $125K per year.
