Director of Product Design

We are seen as a critical function to the business strategy and we are looking for leaders who love mentoring and building great products with consumer grade high quality craftsmanship. You’ll grow and support a team of highly talented and passionate Product Designers during a period of rapid growth and develop the strategy and vision for your area of the customer experience. You’ll be a thought-leader in both connecting business and design strategy and shaping our design practice as we continue to scale. 


What you’ll do as a Director of Product Design at Vanta:


  • Lead design for one of Vanta's critical product areas
  • Create the design vision and strategy for your domain and align it with our business strategy, advocating for customer outcomes and a world-class user experience
  • Build a best-in-class organization, hold a high bar for customer experience, design quality, and team cohesion
  • Coach and mentor a growing team of Product Designers, providing the expertise, direction, and support needed for high performance
  • Establish strong partnership with Product and Engineering that instills a strong sense of joint ownership and effective collaboration.
  • Work cross functional partners in EPD and GTM interfacing with stakeholders
  • A key contributor to the product strategy and roadmap for your domain, in partnership with Product and Engineering partners. ‘
  • Evolve the Design team playbook with head of design and other design leadership by implementing best practices in design process, rituals and execution for high quality craftsmanship.


How to be successful in this role:


  • Have 10+ years of design experience, with deep experience working on B2B and B2C SaaS products
  • 5+ years successfully building and managing design teams in a high growth environment.
  • Passion for leading, coaching and building an inspired team through setting vision, unlocking potential, and driving compassionate accountability
  • Demonstrated use of qualitative and quantitative data, leverage subject matter experts to impacts customer and business metrics
  • Outcome focused decision maker who effectively balances ambiguity, available data, speed, and iteration
  • Proven track record of influencing cross functional stakeholders with results
  • Have a deep curiosity of emerging technologies and an enthusiasm for cybersecurity  
  • Ability to establish a vibrant, opinionated, and inclusive design culture 
  • Portfolio of work teams they have managed and/or operational practices they instrumented is required

To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base pay ranges for all US-based job postings regardless of state. We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar-stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below. The base pay range for this position is $225,000 - $265,000. This role may also be eligible for commissions/bonus, equity, medical benefits, 401(k) plan, and other company perk programs.
