Requisition Summary

Kenworth is seeking an energetic, independent engineer with interest in creating, defining, and launching the next generation of industry-leading trucks. The primary function is to set direction and guide the organization to follow a road map for thermal management improvements. The Thermal Management Property Owner is responsible for managing the portfolio of new technologies and thermal management for Kenworth vehicles and championing support across levels of management. The position will coordinate with multiple divisions and engineering groups to implement thermal management systems into Kenworth and PACCAR electrified powertrain projects.


Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and incorporate advanced automotive technologies into PACCAR products by leading initiatives and gain division support for implementing projects.
  • Define requirements for vehicle thermal management in PACCAR products.
  • Promote thermal management projects by working with system and component owners as a technical program manager for project implementation.
  • Support thermal management improvements and projects by simulating design concepts and analyzing impacts on system performance.
  • Provide technical leadership in the creation of a thermal management roadmap to support new product development.
  • Lead global workshops for alignment on technologies with suppliers and internal global engineering teams.
  • Elicit requirements from customers, sales teams, government regulations, and industry standards to capture customer and business needs directly related to thermal management.
  • Work with global teams to deliver common, cost-efficient solutions PACCAR-wide (up to 10% travel may be required).


Qualifications & Skills

  • BS in Engineering or related field required; MS in Engineering or related field and PE license preferred.
  • Understanding of design, development, and validation of automotive technologies, preferably with commercial vehicle background.
  • Ability to independently reach out and build cooperation among individuals and departments, and work across multiple organizations to effectively achieve project goals.
  • Effective analysis and project management skills with flexibility to manage shifting timelines, workloads, and project demands.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proficiency in technical writing.
  • Familiar with cooling systems, thermal management systems, and control systems technologies as they relate to commercial truck electrified powertrains, high voltage batteries, power electronics and electric auxiliary systems.
  • Ability and desire to learn new tools and stay updated with the latest technological advancements in the industry.
  • Experience with simulation software, such as MATLAB, is preferred.
  • Experience with CAD software: Creo/ProE, SolidWorks, Catia, etc. is preferred.
  • Background in the automotive or heavy truck industry is preferred.

Additional Job Board Information

At PACCAR, we value talent and promote growth and development. We carefully consider numerous compensation factors including your education, training, or experience. The salary range for Vehicle Property Owner - Thermal Management is $93,00 - $145,500 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
