High School Science Teacher (SY25-26, High School)

What You’ll Do

As a High School Science Teacher at Veritas Prep for the SY25-26 school year, you will craft and deliver dynamic science lessons that foster critical thinking, inquiry, and engagement among high school students. Your role will involve guiding students through challenging concepts in various scientific disciplines while ensuring they are prepared for both college and career paths. Collaboration with your colleagues will be essential as you develop a cohesive curriculum that aligns with the school's goals and standards, and you will guide students in their scientific explorations and research.

You will also:

  • Design and implement curriculum that engages students and meets state and national science standards
  • Facilitate laboratory and field investigations to deepen students' understanding of scientific processes
  • Utilize data-driven assessments to monitor student progress and differentiate instruction accordingly
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and a love for learning
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, and the wider school community
  • Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and pedagogical techniques
  • Incorporate social-emotional learning strategies within the context of science education
  • Collaborate with teams of educators to implement school-wide initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion

What You’ll Need (Qualifications)

  • A strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students
  • Proven experience in the field of education, particularly in teaching high school science subjects
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Valid teaching certification in the state of Massachusetts (or eligibility to obtain one)
  • Demonstrated expertise in science content areas, including but not limited to Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Environmental Science
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and to embrace feedback for continuous improvement
  • Ability to work collaboratively with fellow educators, staff, and families
  • Current authorization to work in the United States

Veritas Prep offers competitive salaries and comprehensive benefit packages that include the following:

  • Salary Range for this position is $50,000 - $90,000, exclusive of fringe benefits.
    • If hired, your final base salary will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience.
    • In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
    • Keep in mind, the above range is the full base salary range for this position. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.

About Veritas Prep

Veritas Prep is a public, tuition-free school in Springfield that prepares students in grades 5 through 12 to compete, achieve, and succeed in college and beyond. Veritas Prep accelerates every student’s path to college and career by helping them set a strong academic foundation in middle school and guaranteeing access to college classes and college prep support in our wall-to-wall Early College high school.

Our Early College high school program, in partnership with STCC and Worcester State University, prepares students to earn high-impact college degrees, saving students up to two years’ time in college and thousands of dollars. Students can earn up to an associate degree for free, and the general studies associate degree from STCC means students enter as JUNIORS at any Massachusetts public college or university after high school graduation.
