Willamette Veterinary Hospital, located in Corvallis, Oregon, is hiring emergency interns for 2024!
What to expect: A strongly mentored year of growth in surgery, medicine, and emergency care of companion animals and the occasional exotic patient (including pocket pets). The mentorship will include a core mentor, mentorship from the entire ER team, and peer mentorship. Expect regular mentorship meetings, intern meetings, and continuing education meetings based on the interests of the interns. The goal is to steadily build confidence and skills in surgery, medicine, ICU management, and emergency care, as well as additional interests that you may have.
About our clinic: Willamette Veterinary Hospital is a full-service, AAHA accredited, small animal general practice and 24/7 emergency hospital. Our state-of-the-art hospital is fully equipped with an in-house lab, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, Snyder oxygen cage, blood products, therapy laser, and CO2 laser. We use Cornerstone for our electronic medical records. You can take a tour of our hospital at www.wilvet.com.
At WVH, our emergency doctors manage hospitalized cases, outpatient emergencies and perform a large variety of advanced soft tissue surgeries. Access to an orthopedic surgeon for on-site procedures or referral is available. Comfort with surgery and/or a willingness to learn are a necessary attribute for this role.
We have worked hard to build an experienced team that supports collaboration and a healthy work-life balance. Our doctors are well supported with a 3:1 support staff to doctor ratio! We have dedicated ER technicians and ICU technicians, to provide the best patient care and continuity of care. Our ER doctors rotate through a schedule of day, swing, and overnight shifts, averaging 10-12 shifts per month.
