Our Finance team is currently seeking a VP and General Auditor. This is a full time, exempt/non-exempt role.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and Audit Committee of The Hanover Group’s (NYSE: THG) Board of Directors, with matrix reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, the Vice President and General Auditor directs the Internal Audit department in developing, planning and executing a comprehensive audit program, the function of which is to operate as an independent appraisal reviewing business processes and evaluating the adequacy of controls and the effectiveness of operating procedures. Leads the team to develop recommendations to improve controls and ensure effective operating procedures. These responsibilities extend to all subsidiary operations and data processing functions.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
  • Design and implement an annual audit plan to assure that:
  • The Hanover Insurance Group and subs are in compliance with operational policies and standards of ethical business practices that promote the well-being of the companies.
  • Internal controls achieve their intended objectives and adequately safeguard the assets of the companies at a reasonable cost.
  • Financial transactions and statements are complete and accurate and comply with Company policy.
  • Coordinate independent outside auditor activity and assist, as required, in audits performed by representatives of the Internal Revenue Service, the Securities and Exchange Commission, various state regulatory agencies and other entities authorized to audit any of the Hanover companies.
  • Investigate attempts to defraud any of the companies or their respective shareholders.
  • Provide written reports of audit findings to the Audit Committee and such levels of Management as may be necessary to effect remedial action.
  • Provide consulting services on control design, testing, conversion and recovery procedures on new data processing systems development.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
  • Minimum of 15+ years of prior related business and senior management experience
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
