The company has a strong pipeline of products and candidates designed to both expand on its heritage in global opioid dependence and address other chronic diseases of addiction – including opiate overdose, alcohol use disorders and cocaine intoxication - as well as related mental health disorders such as schizophrenia.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The VP of Communications is a newly created role responsible for Indivior’s global communications, corporate brand, and reputation, reporting to the Chief Global Impact Officer and sitting on the Global Impact & Corporate Affairs leadership team. This individual will work closely with the CEO and entire Indivior Executive Committee as their lead advisor on communications strategy and reputational issues. They will build a team of professionals charged with implementing a corporate communications vision that is integrated across the Global Impact organization, taking into account government affairs, public affairs, and policy, ESG, corporate responsibility, as well as the needs of the business, the research and development organization, and other critical functions. This superior communicator also will lead the patient-focused effort to position Indivior as the leader in addiction treatment and recovery.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to,
  • Lead communications strategist for the entire global organization, responsible for shepherding the Indivior corporate brand and reputation
  • Build a first-class global communications function, including the people, capabilities infrastructure, tools, and processes that can support a rapidly growing business.
  • Guide communications team responsible for product and science communications, internal and external communications, corporate brand and reputation management, crisis management, executive communications, digital and social media, and media relations.
  • Work closely with the product brand marketing teams to ensure alignment across the enterprise and to build and protect Indivior’s reputation as a responsible corporate citizen.
  • Lead team responsible for creating key corporate publications, including the annual report and sustainability report, as well as the development of compelling content and storytelling for all communications channels, both internal and external.
  • Guide development of issues management strategy and capability and crisis communications infrastructure and capabilities.
  • Responsible for building media relations function and thought leadership platforms for the company and its leaders.
  • Guide external agencies and vendors.
YEAR ONE CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS
The VP of Corporate Communications is a newly created role in this rapidly growing company.
He/she will have the following KRA’s in the first twelve months:
  • Build the short- and long-range strategic communications strategy and vision for the enterprise, present to the Chief Global Impact Officer and her leadership team; project the infrastructure and resources that will be required. While the initial focus is on the U.S., plan for global expansions.
  • Establish strong working relationships with all the key stakeholders from commercial, operations, R&D, HR, IT and other corporate functions, and be seen as a credible addition to the leadership team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Experience:
  • A minimum of 15 or more years of experience as a communications or public relations professional in a corporate setting or blended corporate and agency experience.
  • At least 5 years in a communications leadership role.
  • At least 5 years in pharmaceutical communications, public affairs, or government affairs.
  • Experience in media relations, corporate public positioning, crisis management, strategic issue and issues management.
  • Experience working with c-suite executives and skill in navigating corporate environment

In addition to the minimum qualifications, the employee will demonstrate:
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills and demonstrated expertise in leading complex communication activities.
  • Knowledge of and experience with latest communications technologies and platforms.
  • Proven ability to build and nurture relationships.
  • Proven ability to manage issues and remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong business acumen, a track record of excellent stakeholder management, and the ability
to lead and influence within a heavily regulated industry.
