Vice President, Financial Aid

Position Summary:
The Vice President of Financial Aid is responsible for ensuring the National University is in compliance with all regulatory guidelines and the financial aid quality assurance process at National University. This includes designing and implementing financial aid policies tracking changes to regulations, advocating for National University and its students, and ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations. This role will represent National University for all financial aid related discussions, be the point of contact for regulators as it pertains to financial aid, is responsible for establishing and maintain strong relationships with agencies and be able to translate regulations into NU specific policies. The VP of Financial Aid serves as a member of the University Leadership Council and works closely with other university departments to promote student access to financial resources.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, private organizations, and donors.
  • Develop and optimize policies related to financial aid, scholarships, and grants that align with the university's mission and strategic goals.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations related to financial aid.
  • Collaborate with other university departments, such as admissions and academic advising, to improve student access to financial resources and services.
  • Collaborate with the Enrollment and Marketing team to develop strategies to attract and retain a diverse student body, including underrepresented and low-income students.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase financial literacy among students and families.
  • Participate in university committees and task forces related to financial aid, student retention, and student success.
  • Stay up-to-date on current trends, laws, and regulations related to financial aid and incorporate them into institutional policies and practices.
  • Represent the university at professional conferences and events related to financial aid and student financial services.
  • Other duties as assigned by Senior Vice President Operations or President.

Requirements:
Education & Experience:
  • A Master's degree required, preferably in higher education administration, business, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in financial aid administration at a college or university, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong network within regulatory agencies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policies and procedures related to financial aid.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other university departments and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with a proven ability to motivate and develop staff members.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Understands and implements a systematic process of making improvements to products and services based on knowledge of student needs, process flows, data analysis, team involvement and use of the improvement cycle.
Location: Remote
Travel: Travel includes representation at professional conferences and events related to financial aid and student financial services

Candidate receiving offers will be offered a salary/pay rate commensurate with experience that vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies. Absent exceptional circumstances, candidates will be offered a salary within this range for this position. The minimum salary will be offered based on the minimum exemption threshold based on state of residency. Compensation Range:
Annual Salary: $112,290.00 - $151,590.00
