Vice President Hotel Strategy

The Vice President of Hotel Strategy is responsible for the ongoing operations and optimization of the hotel booking user experience, including display optimization (sort order, static content, etc.), supply optimization (supplier logic, room category selection, etc.) and revenue management. This role is responsible for the articulation of technology solution improvement business needs for product development. This role partners closely with the supply relations team in negotiating hotel inventory agreements. The VP of Hotel Strategy is the primary liaison to business stakeholders in Marketing, Service Delivery, Business Development and Account Management.

Responsibilities:

Supply Optimization

  • Owns responsibility for the day-to-day management and optimization of the ecosystem controlling the display of content and pricing for hotels and vacation rentals.
  • Analyze supplier feeds to ensure we have the best possible rates and inventory, providing supplier relations with feedback when needed on how to improve.
  • Drive ongoing analysis to determine the optimal sort order and display to best maximize revenue and savings per search session for online bookings.
  • Drive ongoing analysis to determine the pricing and revenue management strategy that best maximizes revenue and savings per search session for online bookings.
  • Manages processes and teams responsible for the optimization of base rules and static content like location definition, hotel unification, room category unification, images, descriptive content and ratings

Product Solutions and Specifications

  • Provides key insights about the needs and desires of customers.
  • Represents the product and seeks to understand the user experience and performance trends that affect the business.
  • Determines business opportunities to improve our technology solutions, including the determination of potential business value.
  • Subject matter expert related to client specific product offerings, business models, performance statistics and dependencies to support any product development initiatives.
  • Stays informed on trends and opportunities in the competitive market.

Stakeholder Management

  • Dialogues with teams across the organization to ensure that the business strategy is represented.
  • Partners with the data team to provide business needs for improved reporting tools for the Stays product.
  • Provides guidance to the marketing teams on the best possible products and price points for marketing opportunities
  • Supports the service delivery team with analysis and insight on how to better improve the solution for agents, both on the sales and customer service side
  • Works with the account management and business development teams as needed to support opportunities to support our clients and new business opportunities

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years leadership experience
  • Travel e-commerce and hotel distributions experience
  • Strong analytical background
  • Experience working closely with business stakeholders to discern business requirements and critical success factors
  • Comfort taking a leadership role over a P&L
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational, time management and analytical skills
  • Demonstrate creativity in solving problems or generating improvement ideas
  • Resilient and flexible mindset that gravitates to solving problems
  • Must demonstrate initiative with or without direct authority.
  • Must demonstrate self-motivated time management and the ability to prioritize competing or conflicting requests and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial
  • Must be detail oriented and be able to follow-up and follow-through on project actions/tasks
  • Must demonstrate ability to handle diversity amongst people and environments
