VICE PRESIDENT – RISK OFFICER (COMPLEX & STRATEGIC ACTIVITIES & TRANSACTIONS) (JOB NUMBER: COR002695)


Business Overview:


One of RISK Markets & Financial Institutions (“RISK MFI”) core mission is to provide a dynamic analysis of the market, credit/counterparty and model risks managed by the Global Markets activities within the Corporate & Institutional Banking division. This includes to proactively identify, analyze and monitor market and counterparty risk exposures, to contribute to the definition of the risk framework and to assist all levels of Management on risk-taking decisions.


Within RISK MFI, the Transaction Team is a transversal team that primarily covers new activities and exceptional transactions originated by Global Markets business lines (Equity, Rates, FX, Credit and Financing businesses). Team responsibilities include conducting holistic risk analysis (Market, Credit & Counterparty, Operational risks) on those strategic initiatives and representing the RISK department in approval committees.

Responsibilities:


The available position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Represent the RISK function in approval committees for the validation of structured transactions and new activities initiated by Global Markets across the America’s platform (US and LATAM);
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative risk analyzes (market, liquidity and counterparty risks) for complex and strategic initiatives arising from the business lines (Equity, FX, Rates, Credit and Financing activities);
  • Involvement in the decision making process by providing a formal RISK opinion, issuing risk recommendations and proposing risk mitigation strategies;
  • Coordinate and interact with other RISK expert teams (Market Risk, Model Risk, Credit Risk…) to review and address specific issues such as booking, risk limits, reserves, valuation, risk quantification and monitoring;
  • Ensure the new initiatives are consistent with the Bank risk appetite/strategy and follow-up the implementation of the risk frameworks;
  • Intervene in other transversal risk topics under the Team responsibility (e.g. Electronic Trading …).


Minimum Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics / Finance / Economics / Engineering;
  • 3 years+ in Risk Management areas (Market Risk / Counterparty Risk) or Trading/Structuring Front-Office roles;
  • Good understanding of market and counterparty risks originated from derivatives and securities financing transactions;
  • Sound knowledge of capital market instruments over various assets classes;
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:


Other qualifications include:

  • A Master’s degree would be considered favorably;
  • Understanding of quantitative risk measures and related risk modeling / methodologies.
  • Ability to work under pressure and complete projects on time;
  • Knowledge of regulatory rules relative to capital market products.

The expected starting salary range for this position in New York is between $145,000 to $194,000 annually. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business line, and geographic/office location.
